Blackberry 8100
Review of RIM BlackBerry 8100 by ardleyf

Advantages: first RIM with camera, easy to use qwerty keyboard
Disadvantages: not much for how much it costs, limited internet and applications

this is my current phone and i have had it now for 18 months. it is one of the easiest phones i have ever used. this is mainly due to the qwerty key board which makes sending texts and emails so much easier. the 'pearl' track ball is the best creation on a phone since the directional buttons. it allows you to move to your required application so much faster and easier. the internet isnt so good because of the small screen it makes it so much harder ...
...internet i advise ither the samsung f700 or f490 and the apple iphone. the othe good feature of this phone is that it is the first blackberry to have a camera. this allows business photos to be taken on site and send to the office imediately for use and creates and bridge between the once large gap. ... Qtek 9100 bliss
Review of Qtek 9100 by Darak1337

Advantages: Packed full of easy to use and usefull features
Disadvantages: the processor is not the best.

I have recently purchased this PDA from ebay for £55 including delivery and i think myself very lucky for that. This product may not be the most powerfull or fastest PDA on the market, but the features it has far outweigh its lack of power. The 200mhz processor is more than enough for on the go use. It it hard to make the PDA "laggy" or slow. The features of this are endless, including bluetooth, Wi-fi, phone, mp3, video, 1.3MP camera/video camera, ...
...is also very easy to use, with the built in speakerphone, voice dialing and keypad system. You text messages are kept with your emails meaning everything is in one place. Mine came with windows moblie 5.0, which i found to be a great OS for my PDA, its easy to use and functional and packed with loads of greats features just as the PDA is. The battery life on this PDA is not the best, but is more than enough. At the moment after 6 months of being ... Read review

Ageing, but still invaluable
Review of Palm V by TallTone

Advantages: Fits your work and social life into a small portable space; wide range of downloadable software
Disadvantages: Handwriting recognition not perfect

OK, so the Palm V isn't exactly the hottest new thing on the planet. I've had mine for about eighteen months, and it's still going strong. It's all there - address book, date book, to do list, notepad, calculator. If that isn't enough, hook it up to a PC and you can also download a variety of programs (and there's some good shareware out there) to do anything from play chess (there are plenty of games) to provide recipe ideas. You can send e-mail ...
...of your inbox. And of course, you can keep all the basic application data in step with Outlook (or just about whatever you use). It's not all been sweetness and light though - the handwriting recognition is not perfect although quite adequate; I've also had a couple of problems with broken buttons, but warranty replacement has been fairly swift considering (about a week). However, the real reason that I thought it worth writing an opinion on an ... Read review

Comms on the move
Review of RIM Blackberry 7230 by Danneey

Advantages: Push email, pda features
Disadvantages: a little bulky

Issued a blackberry as a replacement for my work mobile phone, and first impressions were that I didn't like it. I think this is just that I saw it as a very bulky mobile phone. Admittedly, this was a very short sighted view of the Blackberry, my opinion has changed now to appreciate how useful it is. The blackberry devices are still one of the few devices which has true push email. That is to say, when an email is received by the server at HQ, ...
...connect or login to the email server to download the email. The same applies to sending emails, you write your email, click send and away it goes. It still surprises people every now and then that I can respond so quickly to an email. There is a QWERTY keyboard for writing messages, and notes, although not large enough to use as a computer keyboard, familiarity with where letters are on the keyboard speed up the process. As a phone, I still have ... Read review

An Organiser By Any Other Name
Review of Oregon Scientific PDA 188 by BNibbles

Advantages: Looks a lot dearer than it is. Links to PC for proper typing
Disadvantages: Currency converter limited to €.

...with various budget brands, Sharp, Oregon etc, all promising the PC link as an optional extra, but which, on trying to get hold of one from the original dealer, always failed to materialise. To a certain extent, this didn’t matter too much since I only ever wanted an organiser to act as an address book for me, and possibly a currency translator. Losing my data and having to start all over again at a later date was a bit of a chore though. Then ...
...to from a PC. The Oregon Scientific PDA188 is exactly what I’ve been looking for. At £20, it is DEFINITELY what I’ve been looking for! You can also buy it packaged by Boots at the moment for the same price. So what do you get for your £20? - 256K of memory* touch-screen organiser, with Telephone Number\Address Book, Scheduler, Memo Pad, International Time\Alarm Clock, Calendar, Calculator and Currency Converter. *Curiously, the Boots version claims ...
