Great Palm Device, even today!
Review of Palm Vx by
OwlOwl
Advantages: Very reliable, fast, THOUSANDS!!! of accessories, Upgradeable OS to 4.1, good amount of memory (8MB)
Disadvantages: It doesn't to exactly everything today's handhelds can do now...
I find the Palm Vx is just a great organiser. I mean, it's so slim, and not to mention there are literally MILLIONS of accessories available for it! At this time of year (2008) I'm sure most of us will go out and buy a new PDA. But, with the thousands of Palm softwares available and most work with OS 3.5-4.1 (with the upgrade) still. I think it's the best Palm device yet (and the Tungsten T3), they've put a lot of work into it at the time and was ... ...most users even today considering Palm applications are very small. Although this thing doesn't have an MP3 player, color screen or video player, it's perfectly good for anything other than that. 8Mb might seem like little today, but as mentioned before considering how small the apps are it's not an issue at all. It's design is very sleek and slim, and many cases are available for it. In fact this Palm has the most accessories available for it compared ...

The Palm
Review of Palm IIIc by
mwhiteheaduk
Advantages: Great colour and comparative value for money. Rechargeable battery a big plus.
Disadvantages: Slightly bulkier than average PDA's
The Palm IIIc handheld PDA is a great help for an experienced Palmer. First off, if you must have color this is a must have for you because the color is crisp and clear. If you would like a good audio, music, sound this is probably not for you because of the high peak of the volume, very low, would be too quiet to hear in a croud of people or any place where it is noisy. If you are a first user I would suggest the Palm X, Palm IIIe they are cheap ... ...it is difficult to go back to monochromatic displays.
This is the color version of the Palm 3 and looks better and clearer for it. Memory is not upgradable and 8mb is not a huge amount. I have 3mb left and starting to worry. Bad mistake but I will cope ...

Palm M100
Review of Palm M100 by
Tony_Edwards
Advantages: It's small, it's simple, it does it's job
Disadvantages: No ports for external peripherals. You only have 2 minutes to change the batteries before the memory is lost.
...you're really busy and the Palm is a wonderful solution. I have received the Palm m100 as a gift and I have not had any problems with it. After using it for just a month, it is a college student's answer to organization.
It only holds 2 MB of memory - does a college student need anymore than that? It's enough to get the job done. If games and email is what you're after, you need one of the higher models for more memory. 2 MB goes really quickly ... ...found some add-on software for Palm for added organization. Now I can keep track of my check book and credit cards, when my classes start and what assignments I need to have done.
Keeping track of tasks can be done very easily. I can back up my info on my pc and just link my palm, press a button and there it is.
This Palm is very simple, to the point and I don't need anything else. If you were going to go on a trip someplace and you're going to ...

Top value for money, few compromises
Review of Palm IIIxe by
dobieg
Advantages: 8Mb memory, inexpensive
Disadvantages: looks like a Ford Capri
...all or nothing.
The Palm IIIxe is based on the older format connector, and as a result, accessories are more widely available on Ebay, and tend to attract lower prices.
The 8Mb of memory is a major selling point - so far I've not had any 'out of memory' problems.
The unit uses AAA cells, so if you find your batteries are running out, you can replace them after a visit to your local petrol station - you don't need to dock it with your host PC to ... ...with the older designs of Palm handlelds, and that is, if you keep it in the data cradle connected to a PC it will run your battery down. A very simple modification, which is described on various Internet sites calls for one wire in the cradle to be cut, eliminating the problem I have done this to my own, and several friends machines, all of which continue to work perfectly well.
If you don't need a colour screen - and let's face it - who does! ...
