Internet Radio reception at its best
Review of Revo BLIK Radiostation by
coppinpr
Advantages: Small, works very well ,easy to use
Disadvantages: mains only (but not a real problem)
...futuristic designs and the Blik Revo radiostation caught my eye.
What set it apart from the rest? well, not only is it a first rate internet radio its also one of the first DAB enabled radios using the latest DAB+ system, There is also a reasonable FM reciever built in (although after listining to the DAB and internet reception the FM is very ordinary) and there is the option to link your Ipod/Mp3 player or even listen to your pc's music library ... ...not clear about internet radio, around 10,000 stations are available, free to anyone on the net, everything from background music through heavy metal to drama and even TV audio feeds, plus podcasts and talk radio of every type.
The unit is small,no more than 12 inches long and only a few inches high, the front screen handles all the station info from station name to whats playing with an easy streaming method which is clear to read and simple to use. ...

Wharfdale DAB/FM Digial Radio Alarm Clock
Review of Wharfedale DAB FM Radio by
CheerfulC
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: time freezes and then doesn't work, horrible alarm noise, not easy to use.
Was given this last Christmas as a present.
It isn't the easiest of clock radios to understand, the instructions aren't too bad, but trying to remember what to do each time you use it isn't easy, I find that I have to have the instructions to hand on each occasion. It has quite often had me wanting to throw it out of the window.
The worst point about it is that for some unknown reason the time 'sticks' and the clock becomes un-useable, you have ... ...back for an exchange a couple of times, but to be honest I can't wait for next Christmas to a I can have another new one.
BUYER BEWARE, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CLOCK IF YOU WANT IT TO GET YOU UP IN A MORNING, THE TIME WILL HABVE PROBABLY FROZEN ON IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. ...

Banging Tunes out while Banging Nails in
Review of Makita BMR 100 by
kibbles88
Advantages: light, durable, cheap, good sound quality
Disadvantages: none
...own many items which are Makita and i know that they are very reliable and durable for site work.
I work on sites most of the time and i have never had a better radio.
the sound quality is excellent..i was sceptical at first believing that a portable radio would not be so good but i was very wrong.
i have had this for little over a month and it is a god send...a battery lasts for around 1 week which i think is excellent.
the radio itself is very ...

Oregon Scientific DP-200
Review of Oregon DP-200 by
bindie
Advantages: Motion sensor, Radio controlled, Bright projection
Disadvantages: Cost £85 - £100, Radio signal dependant on weather
...have been using a previous Oregon Scientific projection clock for the past couple of years, and I have been very pleased with it. I decided to get this model because one of the main points is that the projection is strong enough to be seen in daylight. Even on a really bright day, it is still possible to see the time on the ceiling or wall, unlike previous models.
As with previous models, it has the radio controlled time feature, meaning that it ... ...Although it is possible to turn the radio signal receiver off, and do it manually. This may have to be done if you are using it in an area of weak or no signal. With this clock, it has a switch so that it can be taken anywhere in Europe, and it should continue to work.
The clock also came with an outdoor temperature sensor which requires a single AA battery to power it. So long as it is in range of the clock, then the outside temperature can be ...

Reliable and soon-to-be retro radio
Review of Panasonic RF-3500 by
fmml
Advantages: It just keeps going!
Disadvantages: Isn't digital.
It depends what you want from a portable radio, but if you're not interested in having a digital one, are not too concerned about looks, and just want reliability, then this is for you.
It already looks slightly old-fashioned, but then that means it will no doubt soon look retro and regain its coolness, so you could see it as an investment for the future!
It's only about 24cm by 14cm by 7cm, so it's small, light and easily portable, with a large ... ...pulled out easily when in use. It also has a long aerial, but I've found that you generally don't need to put this up.
It takes two C-size batteries, but they last for ages (literally, I can't remember the last time I changed them, and it's in use most days). It's easy to change them, though - a panel at the back slides off and on with no problems. You can also plug it in to a mains supply if you have a two-pin cable.
One advantage of being old-fashioned, ...
