Advantages: Cheap, Not Bad quality
Disadvantages: Only one space for a chartrage

I bought this printer for 40 quid to use as a cheap back up printer, and so that I could save money on ink from my main printer. A word of advice to those setting up home networks do not let anyone else use your good printer, buy a cheap one and let them use that. The drivers came in on the CD and there was no problem installing them though for some bizzare reason it has set up on the computers in German. My housemates think that this is a cunning ...
...I am not that devious, and if I was going to do something like that I'd have set it up in Slovenian. Setting up the drivers though was easy as it is with all printers these days, and maping other machines on the home network to the printer is no problem either. The printer uses Hewlett Packard (HP51649a) colour cartrages and the equivelent Black and white chartrages. If you shop arround you can get these for 15 quid or less. It only has one slot ... ...printer, it's easy to use and there are 2 buttons on it showing to turn it off or stop printing the paper in the printer and print it out without finishing. The design is very interesting, it has a weird colour, like an aqua-ee colour for the bit which holds the paper in. Advantages: CHEAP! Good colour and monochrome printing quality. Fairly quick.
Disadvantages: Barely satisfactory colour photos (but what do you expect for £30!)

The cartridges are reasonably priced, and can be easily refilled I'm told (no nasty chip to reprogram either). I bought this printer about three years ago because I wanted a machine that would produce good quality black and white prints, and that is indeed what it does, so no complaints on that front. I had problems a few months ago when black splodges and smears started appearing on prints. The troubleshooting information I found suggested that the drum needed cleaning, however after following the cleaning instructions I only got a couple of clear prints ...
...the toner cartridge leaking and once I replaced it, the problem was solved. I don't know it the cartridge started leaking because it was old, but I hadn't used it up, so I didn't get the full life out of it and they aren't so cheap that I want to have to replace them before they're finished. This is a superb colour laser printer for the money. I use this for business on a daily basis. Although mainly used for B&W printing its very fast. When used in Colour the image quality is fantastic. This printer comes with various means of communication ie parallel, USB and a built in network adapter.
