great printer
Review of Brother DCP-310CN by punker123

Advantages: looks cool
Disadvantages: a bit slow

this new model from brother was designed to target the home offices with its new inkjet multifunction peripherals. It's black and metallic grey and has a tidy control panel with an LCD and looks really cool and smart. The DCP-310CN has an Ethernet port and therefore you can connect to this printer through multiple computors without actually being connected by wires. and even the momory cards, that fit into its 5 port slots can be accesed through ...

It aint heavy, its my Brother!
Review of Brother DCP-7010 Multifunction by cbzcbz

Advantages: Excellent print quality. Easy to use and setup, reasonabley cheap to run.
Disadvantages: slightly noisy fan when printing.

...Setting up of the Brother DCP7010 was very easy. Firstly, decide if you wish to use the parallel port or USB port (cable not included). Then simply load the driver CD into your CD drive, and follow on screen instructions until prompted to connect the unit to your PC and switch on. Simply setup which language you want on the units LCD display and away you go! FEATURES AND WHAT ITS LIKE TO USE : The laser printing function works at speeds of up to ...
...cost approx £35 for genuine brother cartridges. You can get refilled cartridges for approx £25-30 also but my experience with refilled cartridges is that they don't last as long as genuine ones. The drum lasts for 12,000 pages or every 5 toner cartridges and costs around £55. Based on once used for 12,000 pages, this equates to a running cost of £230 when using genuine brother toners/drum or 1.92 pence per page. Which considering a lot of places ... Read review

A good basic laser printer
Review of Brother HL 1030 by dracoiratus

Advantages: Within the budget of a private user
Disadvantages: Manual feed is unreliable

I bought this printer about three years ago because I wanted a machine that would produce good quality black and white prints, and that is indeed what it does, so no complaints on that front. I had problems a few months ago when black splodges and smears started appearing on prints. The troubleshooting information I found suggested that the drum needed cleaning, however after following the cleaning instructions I only got a couple of clear prints ...
...the toner cartridge leaking and once I replaced it, the problem was solved. I don't know it the cartridge started leaking because it was old, but I hadn't used it up, so I didn't get the full life out of it and they aren't so cheap that I want to have to replace them before they're finished. The other major problem I've noticed recently is with the manual feed slot. It has a pair of sliding tabs to control where you insert the paper, depending on ... Read review

Brother HL 1050
Review of Brother HL 1050 by adamdavid

Advantages: Quick, good quality printouts
Disadvantages: Doesn't seem to last very long

The Brother HL-1050 is a fairly good laser printer. I've had mine for just over two years and in that time I've had no problems with it until recently. It can be connected via either parallel port or USB, comes with 4MB of memory and has a claimed print speed of 10ppm with a maximum resolution of 1200x600dpi. It is fast and handles text superbly and graphics adaquately. Toner cartridges are twenty five quid a throw and last a couple of thousand pages ...
...sure whether to get another Brother printer or not. I was delighted with it, until the print quality dropped so drastically. UPDATE. I bought a Lexmark Colour inkjet printer to replace the Brother and contacted Brother to ask them about my printer. The result of my dealings with Brother has told me that the imaging drum is only expected to last 8,000 pages and that mine is at the end of it's life (having printed 7,800 pages). This means my Brother ... Read review

Brother Make Excellent Printers
Review of Brother HL 1060 by elvina

Advantages: Good workhorse producing quality print at a reasonable price
Disadvantages: Newer models have seperate drum and toner so price for these parts tend to be high

I have used Brother Laser printers in the course of work for some years now and can only say that they are great. The older models such as the Brother HL8E are fantastic work horses and just keep on going and going producing very good quality print at a very low cost per page. The newer models such as the HL-760 are also excellent however have one drawback when compared with the older models. The newer models have a toner and a seperate drum. The ...
...sort and you can contact Brother technical for advice directly on a Manchester number, no high rate calls. If speed of print is important to you different models have different print speeds however the speed does not effect the quality of print. If you want a printer that is going to give a very high quality of print and to keep on going and going and going Brother laser printers are for you. ... Read review
