Good quality comes at a price
Review of Brother HL 1660e by
matthewmayer
Advantages: Great print quality;Quick
Disadvantages: Occasional paper jams
This is a really good quality printer. It is speedy, doing many pages a minute and the resolution is simply superb. I tried printing several scaled down screenshots of web-pages on one page and it was still possible to read the text! It is capable of working in high-pressure environments (we use them at school!) That said, there are reasonably frequent paper jams and the paper tray only takes a few hundred sheets, so needs to be refilled quite often. ...

Excellent Value for money
Review of Brother HL 820 by
rhudson1
Advantages: Relieable, Cheap to buy and run
Disadvantages: Not the fastest and a bit bulky
I bought my Brother Laser printer about 3 or so years ago. I wasn't sure if it was worth bothering getting a laser printer in the first place, but my wife was doing her Phd and would have to print out her thesis and about 10 trees worth of other stuff.
Initial Cost:
The initial cost of the printer was excellent. At the time it was pretty new to the market and about the cheapest you could get.
Refills:
Having heard of people getting stung before ... ...Web Site:
The Brother web site appears to currently be keeping up to date with drivers to support this printer for all Windows Operating systems, although in my experience it isn't really needed as Windows will automatically recognise it for you.
Summary:
This is a great budget laser printer, if you print out a load of text documents (of basic diagrams) and you want to do it cheaply, then seriously concider this printer. ...

Cheap office printer in yout home
Review of Brother HL 1240 by
Brianglo
Advantages: Cheap,reliable,good build qualirt
Disadvantages: Heavy. No colour
...I do like is that Brother give you device drivers on 3.5inch floppy disks. Many manufactureres dont do this.
The printer itself it a heavy little beast . It has a lower paper input tray and a upper hand fed tray which is useful for printing those envelopes without having to take out your A4 paper.
I have had this printer running quite happily for a year and it has never let me down.
There is an option to use this printer vias USB as opposed to ...

Brother Make Excellent Printers
Review of Brother HL 1060 by
elvina
Advantages: Good workhorse producing quality print at a reasonable price
Disadvantages: Newer models have seperate drum and toner so price for these parts tend to be high
I have used Brother Laser printers in the course of work for some years now and can only say that they are great. The older models such as the Brother HL8E are fantastic work horses and just keep on going and going producing very good quality print at a very low cost per page. The newer models such as the HL-760 are also excellent however have one drawback when compared with the older models. The newer models have a toner and a seperate drum. The ... ...sort and you can contact Brother technical for advice directly on a Manchester number, no high rate calls. If speed of print is important to you different models have different print speeds however the speed does not effect the quality of print. If you want a printer that is going to give a very high quality of print and to keep on going and going and going Brother laser printers are for you. ...

Impressive. You pay and you get
Review of Brother HL 2400CE by
Mcsm
Advantages: Fast printer that acts like a HP, works with Bespoke apps
Disadvantages: Could do with better networking built in
Brother occupies an enviable slot in the mono laser printer market, and is carving out a good chunk of the colour laser sector too. It's achieving this feat with products such as this networkable, high-end colour laser unit.
The HL-2400Ce is a large, heavy (32kg, in fact) beast, as are most colour lasers. This is because they require four separate toner cartridges and a somewhat convoluted paper path. The Brother unit is no worse than any others ... ...problem in any event, as Brother supplies drivers for all major operating systems, and these provide a good level of user feedback.
With a top resolution of 1200dpi, boosted to an 'apparent' 2400dpi with various resolution enhancement algorithms, the HL-2400Ce has a maximum print speed of 16ppm in mono and 4ppm in colour. Printing on transparencies halves these potential maxima. As you'd imagine, there's an 'N' version of the printer which has powerful ...
