simple and cheap to run
Review of Epson LQ 300 by zedix

Advantages: cheap to run, good autofeeding mechanism
Disadvantages: noise

I have had my Epson LQ-300 for ages. It is reliable, easy to use and which is most important factor vety cheap to run (in comparison to these inkjet printers where you have to buy ink once a month). The printer comes with paper autofeeder for 50 pages which is quite useful for automotisation of your tasks. You can leave it printing without worring about paper being jammed because its autofeeding mechanism is well thought through. The only disadvantage ... Read review

When will we see an end to the outdated dotmatrix
Review of Epson LX 300+ by gusgusrule

Advantages: Errmmm....leave me to think for this one
Disadvantages: Slow, terrible quality, hard to find consumables

...about £10 each for genuine epson ones or as little as £5 for compatible ones. ------------ QUALITY ------------ Well it sounds good so far, so whats wrong with it? One thing I really disliked about this printer was its quality. The text produced by the ribbon was very faint, and a grey colour as opposed to black. There was a lot of horizontal banding in most print outs with large white stripes through the text. It also had a tendency to shoot ...
...If it is just Epson thats not good with their Dot matrices then I would recommend them to give them up as a bad job and stick to what their good at...inkjet and lasers. Epson still remain my favourite brand of inkjet and laser printers so maybe they should stick with these and abandon the ever ageing method of dot matrix printing...and hopefully other companies will follow! ... HP Laserjet 1600
Review of HP Color LaserJet 1600 by jr991

Advantages: Prints Fast, Good Quality
Disadvantages: Cannot print on 110lb cardstock

I have had my HP Laserjet 1600 for a couple of months now and at first I wasn't to pleased with the colour quality, but after it got broken in it started getting better. I use it quite a bit, sometimes printing 500 sheets a day, so it seems to stand up to the work load that I put it through. One drawback to the HP Laserjet 1600 is if you're printing card stock it cannot print on 110 lb paper. I should have checked into this before purchasing it but ... Read review

Cheap to Buy. Cheap to Run
Review of Samsung ML 2010R by bencallis

Advantages: Cheap, fast, refillable toner, small.
Disadvantages: Envelopes can get jammed.

...such a regular basis. The samsung was in my budget and had all the benefits of a laser printer in a small box. The printer was easy to setup and came with drivers for windows Vista and Xp. I am a Mac user and it was plug and play for me (with Leopard). The toner had to be inserted which is done within seconds. Being my first laser printer I was impressed with the printing speeds, long gone have the days of waiting 30mins for a journal to print. ...
...The printer is relatively small (as far as laser printers go) and will fit on almost any desk (Dimensions (WxDxH) 35.8 cm x 29.9 cm x 21.7 cm). The printer has a relatively small paper capacity at 150 sheets, although this is ample enough for home use or smaller offices. As its only a Mono laser printer photos are not expected to be printed although simple graphs and small pictures in documents print out nice enough. The printer is shipped with ... Read review

Colour LJ2605 printer
Review of HP Color LaserJet 2605 by netgekko

Advantages: Looks good and reasonable quality
Disadvantages: Running costs

The HP Colour LaserJet 2605 is a good little printer; the colour printing is good quality and fast. It is the ideal home or small office printer, the paper tray on the LJ2605 is small so required topping up constantly with paper. The LJ2605 is easy to use and the instructions on the led screen are simple and easy to follow, the screen is a little on the small side though. You should be able to pick this printer up for less than £300. 00 Toner ...
...are retailing for around £50.00 each……. and this is the main drawback with this machine, the toner packs are quite small so you don't get much for your money and to replace all four colours is going to cost almost £200.00. Being an Hewlett Packard makes it easy to maintain, parts for this printer are reasonable priced and readily available, having said that I have had no real problems with this printer although the little paper holder on the output ...
