Review of Brother HL 4040CN by techno_man_37

Advantages: features, looks.
Disadvantages: price?

Recently, brother have been re-designing their printers and their all in ones. This HL4040CN, has just been re-designed and now looks better and works better. The design shape of this, is basically a big box. And it is big because this printer is for an high end personal use or for medium class office work. So therefore it has to be able to cope with a lot of work. Even though this is a box shape, it still looks somewhat cool. Its panels of blue ...
...From the front of the machine, a blue panel fold down. This is a 50 sheet multi purpose tray, and directly below this tray is another, this one holds a massive 250 sheets of paper, and this is the main paper feed for printing off documents. At the top of the printer is where the printed documents come out, this is easier to collect than them coming out of the bottom and just adds simplicity to the machine. There are quite a lot of features available ... Read review

perfect office printer
Review of Brother HL 5280DW by techno_man_37

Advantages: print speed, quality and so silent
Disadvantages: could look better

This Brother HL 5280DW is one of the top models from brothers laser printers. It offers very fast printing, great quality of printers as well as managing a range of different tasks and has lots of different features too. Its 266MHz RISC processor is what runs this machine to its current power and its 32MB of on-board memory, this can too be upgraded to a maximum of 544MB if you really need it. Also built into this is networking. You would expect ...
...it is effectively an office, or home office printer. This means that you can connect computers or laptops to the printer wirelessly so there is no need for those messy wires getting all over the place and connectivity is just simpler. The wireless networking built into the printer can reach transfer rates of 54Mbps. As far as design goes, this isn’t too bad. This printer should look horrible though, as all this printer is, is a simple white ... Read review

He Ain't Heavy, He's my Brother HL6050 !
Review of Brother HL 6050 by ChrisAllsopp

Advantages: Fast and Reliable. Reprint and Dual side functions
Disadvantages: Large Footprint, and noisy

...I eventually chose the Brother HL6050. Although this machine is probably the largest of the ones I looked at, it is by far the best. 42cm deep, and 31 cm tall. The Brother Hl 6050 is a mono laser printer, and cost me £299 from dabs.com. Incredibly quick printing, for the price (24ppm - pages per minute), and a paper tray which holds a full ream (500 sheets). You can use traditional cables, or USB or Infra red. I use USB, as this is very quick ...
...is the reprint function. If you have just printed out a document, and need another, simply press the reprint button, tell it how many copies you require, and press go, and they are reprinted for you. This can be very useful if printing from a document on screen which has crashed, or which you forgot to save. Another wonderful feature is the dual side printing. Gone are the days of printing side one, then taking the pages, trying to work out which ... Read review

He's quite heavy, he's my Brother
Review of Brother HL 6050D by lazza123

Advantages: Good quality, duplex printing
Disadvantages: None

...options, I went for the Brother HL-6050D, although as I have a network at home, I should have gone for the HL-6050DN, oh well live and learn. I got this printer on line from Misco, and it cost me around £340, but looking around you can get it for anything from £315 up to £390. *** What's in the box? *** The box is rather large, about a 75cm cube, it weighs about 20kg. Opening the box, and fighting through the very robust packaging, you come across ...
...the AC power lead, a toner drum, oh and the printer!! The thing that really gets me about any of this type of peripheral is that you never get an interface cable, so remember to buy an Ethernet, USB or parallel cable. I went for the USB option; it is actually the High Speed USB2 that the printer supports. *** Setting it up *** First thing though, it is actually quite heavy, so take care when lifting, also the packaging is pretty big! Mine had ... Read review

Great all-rounder (upd 06/05/07)
Review of Canon PIXMA IP5000 by intelligents

Advantages: fast, reliable, easy to use, long lasting inks, separate inks, 2 paper feeds
Disadvantages: warm tint to photos, no card reader (doesn't bother me though!)

...from. I always use genuine Canon as i know these are the best. Replacing the cartridges is very easy and the printer tells you when they've run out - it's actually fairly accurate. You can look in the settings at any time to see how much is approx left The reason for the two blacks is quite simple. One black is designed for photos and the printer automatically uses it when you're printing photos. The other is for text. This cartridge is much higher ...
...The nice thing about the Canon cartridges is, if you don't believe what the computer is telling you, you can take the cartridge out - by simply opening the top of the printer - and see how much ink there is left. Its made of see-through plastic. The two paper feeds are very useful. If you're used to an Epson printer the top feed will be familiar. If you're used to an HP printer the front feed will be familiar. Personally I keep plain paper in the ... Read review
