Finally a good pinter
Review of Brother HL 2040 by
cja5
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: USB connection
I was despirate to buy a new printer as cartridges where costing me a fortune and so laser was the way forward. I am a student so I was on a budget and I saw this printer was priced well and bit the bullet. I am very surprised by it actually. It is a little temporamentle to set up with the USB especially if you are still running 1.1.....but after that it is plain sailing. I have had it over a year now and am still using the free cartridge that has ... ...printing slightl;y to excess and still it is going strong. It prints very fast and the quality (when st to high - photo) is exceptional. This is definately one to consider when you want a printer. The free cartridge lasts for what seems like ever and it is so easy to use ..... plug it in (finally set it up) and you are away. It was be a litle hot sometimes that conerns me but it hasn't had anything happen to it. I liked it so much I bought a second ...

Canon into this one
Review of Canon BJC 6000 by
lindylou
Advantages: reliable
Disadvantages: none
...I did have a Canon 2400 which I put to one side, pulled it out a year later only to find it still worked Ok. However, things had moved on and I wanted some better results. how? I compromised a little on quality, bought a BJC 6000, saved a lot of money, have Canon reliability, and a better inkjet replacement system which saves money in the long run. Happy? Of course I am and I am sorry Canon for treating you so badly when you deserved better from me. ...

Good basic printer
Review of Canon i 250 by
shil1138
Advantages: Inexpensive and easy to use
Disadvantages: Slow
...text per cartridge. The Canon replacements are a bit expensive but luckily I was able to find compatibles for around one pound per cartridge over the internet and these work fine. Another minor issue is that the paper sometimes gets stuck in the printer, either because it is not lined up properly or not ejected properly and the printer sucks it back in, but this only seem to happen in you are printing lots of pages. ...

Canon i850 Printer
Review of Canon i 850 by
Dave_UK
Advantages: Fast, quiet, economical and fantastic quality.
Disadvantages: none (that I know of)
...well, and decided upon the Canon i850 as the perfect choice. I was looking for an all-round printer, that could cope with a small-business workload (I have plenty of college work to do, and my mum is an Avon Team Leader) without costing the earth in consumables. I also wanted to print photos, so printing quality was a serious consideration, and not just the cost to run the machine. Overview ************** As far as all-rounders go, this printer is ... ...print quality and speed. The Canon i850 beats all its competitors from Epson and HP hands down. Appearance **************** The footprint of this printer is about the same size as its rivals, and the styling is exemplary. With a sleek, silver-topped modern appearance - and yet this printer still manages to look sturdy and business like. This unit sports a minimalist look that is smart but not flashy, and would look attractive on any desk - be it ...

Great for the money and size.
Review of Canon Laser Shot LBP 5000 by
hazeydazey
Advantages: Colour, compact compared to other laser and fits on desktop, laser.
Disadvantages: Still quite large compared to an ink jet.
I bought one of these babies because I hate inkjets and love laser. This was the only one I could really afford which was small enough to fit on my desktop and had colour.
Laser printers are better than inkjets because they give a crisp and professional look to word documents and spreadsheets. Even with a fine quality inject it still looks home-made unless it is on hideously expensive paper. Therefore the LBP 5000 it makes my assignments look great. ... ...pictures which sends shivers down my spine with excitement.
It is generally understood that lasers are far better value for money on a long-term basis. When you replace cartridges in an injet they can cost £15 plus for each colour. A replacement toner cartridge for the LBP5000 laser printer is around £50, however they need replacing far less frequently. I have had mine for six months and have gone through at least two reams of paper and still have ...
