Childs printer - That simple to use
Review of Epson Stylus Color 440 by
whisp
Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: The ink cartridges can be expensive
...increases if you buy the Epson ink cartridges and is less if you shop around and by the compatible cartridges for Epson printers.
With automatic feed it is advisable to put upto 100 pages in at a time. It has extendable rest for the paper when it has printed to go onto until the ink has dried to prevent smudging and this also folds up flat against the front when the printer is not in use. This way it can not be caught and is also space saving when ... ...the paper has run out and has a button so that you can unblock the inkjets if they become blocked. It is easily turned on and of by a button on the front, I have found it simple to use and have not even read the operators manual. I would recommend this printer to people that are not all that confident with gadgets. ...

Possibly the worst ever product from Canon
Review of Canon BJC 7100 by
colin99
Advantages: Choose 3-colour inks for simple jobs, 6-colour for photos
Disadvantages: Expensive to run, unreliable, mediocre quality, Parallel only, huge
...are expensive. Even original Canon inks do this, and copy ones are even worse.
Paper handling is unreliable, sheets sometimes need a push.
Photo print quality, even when you carefully align the heads using the supplied utilities, is rough. There are lines visible on mid-depth parts of the image. This is a shame, because apart from this, the image quality would have been very good.
It messes around for an age before printing anything.
So my experience ... ...Now, having probably printed no more than a few dozen sheets successfully in all the time I've owned it, and having cost more in inks than it cost to buy in that time, it has quit altogether. I just get a five-beeps error. This indicates a cartridge fault, but I've been advised it actually means the print carriage has died, and this costs several times more than the printer did.
Don't even cosider one as a freebie. ...

Epson Stylus Photographic Printers
Review of Epson Stylus Color 860 by
Trev1000
Advantages: Ease of use and software capabilities
Disadvantages: Genuine ink cartridge replacement cost
...types will suffice, however the Epson Stylus range are the ones I would recommend. They are a little higher priced than most other brands but the quality is second to none, with the exception of lazer type printers, BUT! if you want them you would normally need to take out a mortgage.
The Epson Stylus i use at the moment is the 860 model, and prior to that i owned the 600. Both models are designed for photographic and artwork printing and also with ... ...a digital camera and an Epson Stylus printer the results you can acquire are nothing short of miraculous, and of course you have massive savings where film developing cost comes in. As a final note there are about 20 different models of Stylus printers that start from a very reasonable price with print quality as a standard 720 DPI, but it is well worth the extra cash for the 600 models and upward which you can get A3 paper types also. They are fast, ...

Canon into this one
Review of Canon BJC 6000 by
lindylou
Advantages: reliable
Disadvantages: none
...I did have a Canon 2400 which I put to one side, pulled it out a year later only to find it still worked Ok. However, things had moved on and I wanted some better results. how? I compromised a little on quality, bought a BJC 6000, saved a lot of money, have Canon reliability, and a better inkjet replacement system which saves money in the long run. Happy? Of course I am and I am sorry Canon for treating you so badly when you deserved better from me. ...

Good quality comes at a price
Review of Brother HL 1660e by
matthewmayer
Advantages: Great print quality;Quick
Disadvantages: Occasional paper jams
This is a really good quality printer. It is speedy, doing many pages a minute and the resolution is simply superb. I tried printing several scaled down screenshots of web-pages on one page and it was still possible to read the text! It is capable of working in high-pressure environments (we use them at school!) That said, there are reasonably frequent paper jams and the paper tray only takes a few hundred sheets, so needs to be refilled quite often. ...
