    Advantages Advantages Freedom to roam

Disadvantages Disadvantages A long time ago

I had a strange childhood. Very eccentric family, but I didn't know anything different,so everyone else was eccentric to me. 1. School. I loved my primary school. I never really got on with my family, God knows why, and felt more at home with my school friends. Iloved my teachers, and the smell of the floor polish in the school hall when we sat down for assembly. I loved the smell of the wax crayons, and the chalk dust in the air. The walls didn't have plaster on them, they were painted with a thick gloss paint either pink, yellow or blue, depending on which class room you were in, and I liked ... more

Advantages Advantages They were great while they lasted

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not being old enough to appreciate what you've got when you've got it

I might end up waxing slightly lyrical here, but I’ve been trying to think of something I wanted to write about, I’ve started writing things that could go under at least two other Cafe topics and then lost the impetus to keep going and it just so happened that I spotted this category and it brought back a few memories. So this is my tribute to growing up - I know we get a lot of privileges like learning to drive and earning money as we grow up, but I think we lose a few things along the way, too, and I reckon a little bit of reminiscing never hurt anyone. A Little Money Goes A Long Way The ... more

Advantages Advantages Makes you feel good, can live on in your own children

Disadvantages Disadvantages Makes you feel depressed

Well. Where do i start. I miss everything about my childhood and it is really depressing thinking about it. It only seems like yesterday i was falling out of trees, getting clipped around the ear for scuffing the knee out of my new trousers or playing hide and seek with my mates using the entire town as the area to hide in!!! 1. Winters. I really do miss having real winters. I can remember the winter of '76 when we had so much snowfall you could walk in the snow and be at the same height as the tops of the hedges. You really knew where you were with the seasons when i was a kid. 2. A Simple ... more

Advantages Advantages Glorious times, fantastic memories, wonderful possessions

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Unavailable...

Only ten? Some of you may say I am still in my childhood, but for me, this refers to my 'happy days', the time when I had little worries and few problems. I went through a very emotional childhood, for reasons of my own, so when I look back at all those happy times, I can find myself in a right tizzy… There's so much I miss from the 90s. It's amazing how much things have changed in such a short space of time! As a nation, we've gone health mad, everything is technical, and saving the pennies is always a main priority! Casting my mind back, I remember my childhood being so much more simple ... more

    Advantages Advantages wonderful times

Disadvantages Disadvantages never to come back

I miss the family life. Christmas was so wonderful, we had a coal fire always so hot and welcoming and warming, and looking out of the window at the deep white snow was amazing, especially when you were waitinf for santa to come down the path, was wonderful, funny we never knew then it was mum or dad who did it. I miss the smell of my mothers and gradnmothers home cooking, the oven was always on and was always a smell of cooking from the kitchen. I even miss the cold house we lived in , it was huge and the only room which stayed warm was the front room where we always had a coal fire burning ... more

Advantages Advantages They were good times

Disadvantages Disadvantages I don't have them anymore

    1. I miss the fact of my mum and dad being together, and my sister living with me. That is my family, my full family, all four of us. However, my parents divorced when I was seven, and my sister moved out not long after that. Although I was only young before that, I still remember a whole lot from being that young. It's strange - I remember all these things from my childhood, really early on, however, I struggle to remember what happened yesterday! I used to always get really jealous of people who's parents were together, and wish mine were. Of course, that's stopped now I've become older, and ... more

Advantages Advantages Grandads, Uncles, Sindy Dolls and Mr Ben

Disadvantages Disadvantages They don't last forever!

I'll just get straight on with the 10 things I miss about my childhood: 1) My Grandad, he died when I was 7 but he only lived around the corner from me when he retired, so I saw him every day and can remember him as if it was yesterday. I once fell off a friend's bike when she was giving ma a "saddle ride", she turned around a corner which felt like 70 miles an hour to me only being six at the time - and fell off the bike just as a bus was coming towards us the other way, I hit my head on the road and was knocked out (I was told later, my friend had left me in the road and was rescued by an ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages !?!Nostalgia!?! now I'm missing them more & feel old.

So here I am with the 10 things I miss about my childhood. Feels strange thinking about it, those day's of being an innocent child (HA!) and now as the grey hairs start appearing, the stress is mounting and my responsibilities are growing I think back and realise that being a child was not half bad. Just the other day I was talking about the things I miss from when I was little to my 13 year old brother and I was rolling them off, and now I'm starting to think what my top 10 would be and I can't decide...so in no particular order here are ten things I miss about my childhood, 10 things that ... more

I was a bit bored tonight; I had read all the reviews; and I could not seem to get the inspiration to write about a product. But I felt the need to write, so upon looking through the member pick's I found this. Now! I thought how interesting so in no particular order here are my 10 things I miss about my childhood. 1) My Family: When I grew up we had quite a full family; there always seemed to be someone around to stay. Now I find myself at the grand old age of 33 with only two members of family left (from when I was born). And one of those I have not spoken too since 1994. I think the time it ... more

Advantages Advantages I had a happy one

Disadvantages Disadvantages youth is wasted on the young!

    1) I miss standing barefoot in the grass in the back garden with an eggcup full of sugar and a stick of rhubarb that I was allowed to dip in it. Although I have eggcups, rhubarb and sugar in close proximity, I haven't done this without feeling silly since I was about 10. I look forward to seeing if my daughter will like to do the same when she has enough teeth to attempt this! 2) I spent many happy hours as a child playing in the park with my older sister, jumping across the stream (or wading in it.) It's not so much that I miss the fun we had together, but I'm a little sad I won't be able to ... more
