    Advantages Advantages Cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages but don't you just pay for it if you ever try to claim. Dishonest Claims Team staff

They might be cheap, but beware if you ever have to make a claim - that's when you realise why the policy was cheap! After a no-fault accident when our car was written off, Admiral offered much less than the car was worth. We provided evidence of the value from the garage where we hadfd bought it a year earlier, several adverts from Ford dealers for virtually identical cars (allowing for a likely discount from the screen price) and refused to accept theGlass's Guide valuation. The policy defines the Market Value as the cost of replacement from the place where you normally buy cars (in our case ... more

Having used Admiral now for a couple of years in order to insure my car, I would just like to write a bit of a review on them - not that I have ever had to contact them at all in any way for any real purposes, but I thought it would be nice to just share my own experiences of them for any of you lovely people out there who are currently looking to renew your car insurance. I have just renewed with them again for the second year on the trot, last year being when I first went with them (and no now this is the start of my second year with them if you get me). Having had some issues with my ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Customer service when things go wrong, people make errors all the time it's how you fix them

Disadvantages Disadvantages Renewal prices are more expensive and have to be checked with others before you get the best deal.

I've been with Admiral for two years now, and rarely speak to my insurance company unless I'm due for renewal. I found them via the price comparison websites and the entire set up process was hassle free. This year I bumped into another driver, completely my fault and really silly of me. Admiral handled the entire thing no problem and as I didn't have to make a claim on my car I had no excess to pay which was good. Cut to last month and I had a bit of a problem. I knew my policy was due in September but hadn't received a renewal quote so assumed it must be the end of Sept. Turns out that the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Easy to contact

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lots of hidden catches and not the cheapest to start with!

I've been with admiral for a bit, I have third party as I drive a bit of a scud. I'd knocked off the front bumper and so traded my car in, got another. As you do. Apparently, Admiral charge £150 to change your car mid policy. And they won'y budge on this! It is an 'admin' charge! No mention of this when I joined, and I think it's a bit of a con, what admin did they have other than having some poor minimum wage lad type n the new number plate? And who waits for a policy to expire and then changes car, and takes out a new poilcy? No-one. we all change car when we need to... so we are all ... more

    Advantages Advantages None

Disadvantages Disadvantages Out of pocket by nearly £10k

Hi, just a word of warning regarding Admiral Insurance / Albany Assistance as I have major problems with them and found pages of the same on line. Hit from behind while stationary and witnessed by the Police who clearly stated the fault was the other drivers, my problem has been going on for 3 years and I have been left with a cabriolet which no longer works and various electrical issues which cannot be resolved now. The car was written off but Albany decided to try and repair it. I have been in 2 different garages a total of 20 times and Admiral Insurance have wiped their hands of it while ... more

Advantages Advantages price in first year

Disadvantages Disadvantages very bad customer services

I also will never use Admiral again. 1st year price was good, renewal wasn't and they wanted me to phone an 0870 number to cancel. No chance, I don't pay to tell someone I don't want their services so I wrote on their renewal and returned it to them. Then insured the car with someone else. Then they wrote and told me my credit card details were out of date and they couldn't process my payment for automatic renewal. Well I thought 'so what' I don't want to renew with you and ignored it. I have had no end of calls and letters, from Admiral initially, and latterly from debt collection agents ... more

    Advantages Advantages Polite Staff

Disadvantages Disadvantages Prices may not be the best

I've been with Admiral Group for about 6 years now and even though they may not always have the best price each year, they certainly do have the best customer service in most of the departments. The Renewals and Customer Service departments are great.....I have not (luckily) had to speak to thier Claims department, so I can't say. They have the renewals out of Canada and I must say, they are wonderful people to speak to. Very polite and knowledgable. Everything was quick and easy. There is a 4 hour time difference so even when you call at night, they are still cheerful as they are still in the ... more

1 Star Quick review of Admiral by BrianGM 22/02/2008
Admiral was fine until they had to handle a claim then they are awful communication non existant and no one approachable, not open to discussion. Very poor at replying to communication and interminable push button menus followed by long periods of musak.

    Advantages Advantages cheaper than some

Disadvantages Disadvantages more trouble than most

I've been with Admiral for about eight years now. They've always been cheap (ish) and their customer service has been acceptable if not the most praise-worthy. However, an incident occurred when renewing my policy this year that made me see them in a whole new light. I had been running a Land Rover Defender with a separate insurer for a couple of years (one of the specialist 4x4 insurers) but decided to give Admiral a chance this year. I have two other cars, both insured with Admiral, and a third car adding to the policy should have increased my 'mutiple car' discount with them, so it made ... more
