    Advantages Advantages Looks, fuel economy

Disadvantages Disadvantages rear seat leg room, blind spot

I've had my A3 now for 3 weeks, and driven 1700 miles, and it's great. After testing Golfs, 3 Series, and A3s, I'm sure that the A3 was the best choice for me. The 2.0 TD engine has plenty of oomph, and is suprisingly quick off the mark, coupled with the 6 speed gearbox is a nice comfy car to drive. The SE models does away with the 1" larger wheels, sporty seats, and sports suspension of the Sport model, but in turn gives you an arm rest, some interior lights, storage nets, and the all important cruise control. I opted for the DVD sat nav, which includes the addition of 2 SD/MMC slots behind ... more

Advantages Advantages Well Built, quick and economical

Disadvantages Disadvantages Costly Servicing and arrogant dealerships!

When it came to swapping my car I had £20,000 to spend and needed a reliable and economical car to handle my business mileage as well as something a little sporty to have fun in at the weekends. I looked high and low to find something that was sensible for those long journeys for work and yet still enough to bring a smile to my face. The Audi A3 was the car I settled on for its good robust looks and build quality. My A3 has now done over 50,000 miles and yet it still feels as good and as new as it did when I drove it off the forecourt. The in car stereo (Bose) is fantastic with the sound just ... more

Advantages Advantages small (but big under the bonnet), sporty, sexy, fuel efficient, practical

    Disadvantages Disadvantages small boot

I have this model on a 54 plate (bought new in November 2004) from a main dealer. I've not had any problems with it until just a few months ago (March 2008) when it needed a new clutch. That I believe is down to mileage (75,000) and having spent most of them in urban, stop/start traffic. I've been very happy with this car and would definitely recommend it to anyone wishing to own a piece of motoring magic. The 2 litre diesel engine produces plenty of power to rival most other cars in its class, reaching 60 mph in just under 10 seconds (I think!). I have the alcantara seats (half leather) which ... more

    Advantages Advantages Power, economy, handling

Disadvantages Disadvantages sometimes need 4 doors, sluggish acceleration

I've been driving a white A3 2.0 TDI for three years now, and still enjoy great performance, comfort and handling. ~EXTERIOR~ I’m still confident that the A3 is a goodlooking car, even though the front grille has been updated since I bought the car. I have white paintwork - and the Diesel fumes tend to build up around the bumper area, which needs regular cleaning. ~INTERIOR~ When I first bought the car I loved the interior. The design a smart, modern and comfortable – with great design features, bold lines, and from durable, high quality materials. The car does feature the basic luxuries, like ... more

Advantages Advantages Build quality; Stability; Grip when cornering; comfortable ride

Disadvantages Disadvantages Prince when you start adding extras

Whilst still better value than it's nearest rivals the C-class coupe of Mercedes and the 1 Series BMW, the Audi, once you begin adding all the extras, CD's, sunroof, leather interior, it is quite pssible to design yourself a 30K car! however, the interior space, comfort, driving position are better than the above mentioned cars. And with a 600mile tank, o-60 in less than 8 if you leave it in sport mode, leather seats, 12 CD's, glass roof, you could find worse things to spend 24K on. If you want an easy ride when stuck in traffic then opt for the DSG (direct Shift Gear). this is a Manual gear ... more

Advantages Advantages Quality, Relibility and cost effective

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I have owned this car for just over a year and can say that i thoroughly love it!! I have owned an array of cars over the 15 years i have been driving including BMW's VW's, Vauxhall etc... but this is by far the best car i have owned and driven. The Quality of the car is felt from the second you slide into the Leather and Suede bucket seats and the quality of the dash with the brushed aliminum trim. The ride is as smooth as a baby's bum and even some of my friends who own Mercedes and BMW's are always very impressed. The safety features are also fantastic with as many air bags as you could ... more

Advantages Advantages Performance and Quality for the price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Interior extras are limited

This Audi is a great car. I have always been an Audi fan, I was really torn on what engine to get because I have never owned a diesel before. I do not regret my decision at all, the car has great performance while being pretty good on fuel. The car is comfortable and looks good inside, it seems like it won't easily deteriorate and age like some other interiors. The ride is comfortable and the performance is good. For the price and the insurance cost, I think you would struggle to get performance like this from another car. The features the Audi comes with inside is fairly limited, I think the ... more

Advantages Advantages Good value, lots of extras, looks classy inside

Disadvantages Disadvantages Few niggling problems, uses oil.

I have had my 2004 for just over a year now, it had done 9000 miles when i bought it, now just coming up to 48,000. In that time it has been good with fuel economy around 48mpg even with the climate on all the time. Build quality is very good, i owned golf mk4's before and the audi definately has the edge, this new a3 has much improved handling and the 2.0tdi is very torquey but quiet. Only downside is it does use oil, dont be fooled by dealers, the oil is not cheap either at £12 a litre. Aside from that i have had a new clutch under warranty and minor bits and pieces but it is a great car and ... more
