Advantages Advantages Looks, comfort, performance, fuel consumption

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I've driven Audi A4's for about 8 years now and I really think it's the best mid size saloon in its class. My last two cars have both been the 1.9 TDI model and in my opinion you really can't go wrong with this car. I traded in my 03 plate recently for a new car and the old one still drove like new, such is the reliability of the Audi brand. I had the old one for three years and had no serious problems with it at all. The Audi dealership I deal with are always very courteous and efficient and they even fixed a boot catch fault for me at no charge which I thought was excellent customer service ... more

I chose a P reg Audi A4 earlier this year when I needed a suitable car for my sales rep job. Since March I have travelled over 20,000 miles taking overall mileage to 155,000 - and not had a single problem. Fuel consumption is excellent - 600 miles out of a tank costing approx £45-50 to fill (depending on diesel price obviously!). What really surprised me was how EASY it is to do things like change bulbs in both front and rear lights - even I could do it at the motorway services 250 miles from home and husband. The back seats drop without having to fiddle about or remove headrests. Everything ... more

4 Stars Cheap to run? 14/04/2005
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages A stylish diesel with an amazing mpg

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Costly to repair?

Having bought a second hand Audi A4 last Autumn I have enjoyed the benefits of an economical and quiet diesel engine. The sleek design is a joy to drive. The sting in the tail (or should I say engine compartment) has however hit home - with a new clutch costing in excess of £600. The quality of the car and the low day to day running costs will hopefully outweigh the somewhat high repair bills. (An Audi garage quoted over £900 to replace the clucth and alternator bearing). The one poor aspect of the Audi is the lack of leg-room in the rear footwells, making sitting in the back on long journeys ... more

    4 Stars Audi A4 26/01/2005
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Acceleration (V6, S4), Automatic-transmission performance (CVT), Steering/handling, Ride (base suspension), Interior materials, Available AWD

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Rear-seat room

The vast majority of A4s are sold with quattro. Quattro A4s with 4 cyl and automatic transmission feel slightly underpowered. Manual-transmission quattro 1.8Ts are lively enough, while manual-transmission V6 quattros are satisfyingly quick. Lighter front-drive models feel spry with any transmission, though CVT versions are lazy from a stop. Test 1.8T CVT sedan did 8.6 sec 0-60 mph; test V6 CVT Cabriolet did 7.8. Seamless CVT acts much like conventional automatic, but requires use of manual mode for best performance. Manual transmissions controlled by precise shifters. S4's V8 strong at all ... more

    5 Stars A great car! 24/06/2004
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages A great car with excellent qualities. The diesel is particularly good

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Non!

The A4 is an outstanding car with great drive and comfort. The diesel engine is refined and quiet. The car seems to go forever on a tank of fuel. After a long drive you feel refreshed and ready for whatever lies ahead. A car that delivers what the book say and a very secure environment to drive in. Watch the heads turn as you purr along! The A4 has delivered to drivers a car that delivers! If you are considering a car in this price bracket you would be silly not to test drive the A4 diesel. Nothing dieselish about this car. A joy to drive and without doubt one of the best cars on the road ... more

Advantages Advantages Too many to list !

Disadvantages Disadvantages No Split rear seat as standard

I was really impressed when it was delivered, the lines were so smooth. I could have just left on the drive and looked at all day long!! But that won’t get me to where I want to be. I have the 130 bhp model with sports pack option. ** Nice body!! ** Looking at the lines of the car, you can really see how a wind tunnel played a part in the design!! Smooth and graceful is how I would describe things. Everything is rounded, all the lines blend into one another really well. The phrase that jumps out at me is “quality engineering”. All the light clusters are moulded and curve round the front and ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages rear passenger legroom

I have had two audi,s so far my first being a 1996 version and 90bhp.It was avery capable performer and gave me about 45mpg.I used to drive this car to the limits and found it to handle great.I sold it to a irish salesman in the end and decided to have another one but a bit newer.I went for the 19tdi red i.This produced 110 bhp. Then after a few more mods like 17in wheels and a tuning box(£400) it is a supercar.Ican put my foot down in first and the wheels spin without trying. Excelent for those traffic light blues.Incidently the tuning box uprated my engine to 148bhp worth every penny of £400 ... more

What a car!!!!!!!! The A4 tdi gives excellent fuel consumption and brilliant performance all in a diesel . The 1.9 engine is really smooth and gives excellent aCCELERATION and top end performance u hardly realise it is a diesel . The car now has been cut to £20000 so it is a real bargian because it comes with tiptronic gers heated seats etc. But if ur looking second hand a good p reg version will set u back about £9000 which isnt bad considering wjat ur gettin. but be warned auto diesel 110bhp sre like goldust so snap em up and check out history first. The A4 is just a brilliant looking car ... more
