    Having owned a few vehicles in my life, I Purchased my firs Bmw. Yes a Pre-owned 2004 Bmw 318 M sport. The through search and rescue mission to find a relatively priced, Second hand vehicle , that still has the “one in a Million look” to it , came to be Very Successful. This is my First review, so Comments keep them honest and kind, also advise where I can improve to write better reviews in the future. Basic facts on the Vehicle.     I have been driving for over 4 years now and I have been quite lucky when it came to having my first car. It wasn't all mine but I got to share my mums BMW for a while, which was great. It wasn't the newest but it was a BMW.After driving that I couldn't really got for anything else as the sheer power and quality of the car drew me in. I drove my mates Fiestas and Polos but nothing could match up to it. Then a driving drought came, I didn't renew the cars insurance with my name on it so I took the good old 'reliable' London Transport.     Advantages Advantages BMW holds it's price, great sexy bodywork.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Fuel consumption, not enough power in the 116i

    I currently have a 116i M Sport. It is a lovely car to look at and usually a lovely car to drive on the A roads or motor ways. I find it can be a bit sluggish to pull away but can more than hold it's own on the open roads. This model sits 1.5mm lower than the others due to the M Sport suspension. This coupled with the run flat tyres results in a very bumpy and uncomfortable ride. Make no mistakes, this is not an ideal car for someone already suffering back pains. I have had my car for 3 years from new and love it to pieces but i won't hide the bad points just because i love the car. Enough ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Only really ideal for 3 passengers and the drivers seat can be a bit on the uncomfortable side

    I was always one of those ladies who thought that it wasn't worth buying a fancy car like a BMW - although I secretely admired the car when I drove past a lady driving one. When the 1 series came out, I fell in love with it and finally convinced myself to buy a second hand one. Put it this way, I don't think that I'll ever drive anything other than a BMW. Despite it being 5 years old I still get people telling me what a lovely car it is - and it is truly a joy to drive. It's compact, fast, classy, prestigious, liable and economical on fuel.     If asked to choose which of all the cars we have owned I would recommend the most, I would say that depended to whom the recommendation was being made. The BMW 1 Series, is BMW's 2nd attempt to create a small, hatchback car, the previous one being the 3-Series Compact, which accroding to popular opinion was definetely not one of BMW's best. My family were in the market for a new car, and my father was looking to buy a small practical city car, and had practically settled on the VW Golf 5.     Had a thirty minutes or so with this model, it gets my green light despite its quirky looks & daylight robbery price tag. Good road handling, inspires bullish cofidence on the road, nice motorway cruiser, good braking system, practical, good lights, firm ride but not for the oldie goldies though, good m.p.g., feels bigger than it is, able to fill most roles from Tourer, day shopper to rep running.     Ok, generally, there's nothing wrong with this car. Although the engine is slightly noisy (which is common for 1.6 litre engines), the handling is extremely superb!!! When tackling corners, the car is fast and make you feel very 'high' though. The ride very smooth, especially on open roads. Now, to the interior. Inside, it is comfortable and nicely furnished. The stereo system is MP3-based and has good speaker sets. But, the only thing i feel is that the seat is a LITTLE bit hard. The steering wheel is nice and thick.     I had bought a BMW 116 ES in June of this year and this car regardless of it's good looks and pedigree has been nothing short of a dissapointing, frustrating and hugely inconvenient experience. The car has intermittent problems with starting and will cut out when idleing which has done since it was brand new, this is reported to be an issue with the Engine Management System. The system has been designed to promote better environmental and fuel efficiencies in fuel enonomy, but is nothing more than an irritation which is inconsistant in operation.     This is a pretty nice car its great for family it has a lot of space if you want to go in vacantion with your friends or children.If you have the money this is a verry good car it can get to a pretty big speed but that's isn;t the only thing cars are made for.So overall on a scale of 1-10 i would give it a 8.5 because this isn't a car made for dinamic drivers its a more casual family car

    I LOVE MY 1 SERIES! The first time i saw them, i wasnt sure of the back bit, and thought it came down too quickly, but now i wouldnt swap it for any car in this price catagory. It is quick when you get up to motorway speeds, but at lower speeds, it is not very quick as it is a heavy car, but apart from that, i dont have anything bad to say about this car. The Ipod connection you can get as an extra is much better than the standard av input, really worth the extra £200 i think it was, as you can go through your ipod on your steering wheel.
