Advantages Advantages Nice ride, looks good, good family car

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit thirsty

Very comfy and classy family car. Looks the part and a pleasure to drive, it handles well and corners smoothly. I can be driving for several hours and still feel good with no aches on getting out. My wife and the children love it. It's a bit thirsty on diesel compared to my previous BMW 3 series. The gearstick is nice and high and the seat adjustable enough to enable you to get very comfortable. The seats are very spacious and the rear seats fold flat to the floor, giving you a huge amount of space when you need it. The build quality feels very solid. There is a lot of space in the front two ... more

Advantages Advantages Has a very upmarket image and robust build quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited off road ability

Before I say another word, let's get one thing straight - BMW's X5 is essentially a road car. More or less without exception, everything I've heard or written about the X5 praises its superb road manners and its saloon car like quality, comfort and poise. Having just spent a hard-charging week behind the wheel of this 3.0-litre turbodiesel model, I would second that. The BMW X5 for me is a perfect mix of new and old. In my opinion it successfully blends BMW's new futuristic look, with the clean muscular lines of the old X3. The X5 front-end face echoes the traditional BM "twin-kidney grill" ... more

Advantages Advantages Good handling, solid interiors

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Hefty monthly payments

The BMW X3 is a capable, compact SUV...the X3 is propelled by 3.0L straight 6, that produces 260 hp, inline with its competitors. The X3 starts at a base price of £30K, but by the time you've upgraded with core options like premium and sport packages, navigation, premium sound, xenon lights, active steering your looking at closer to £40K. Maybe its me but £ 40K for a compact SUV..hmmmm BMW get real ! No wonder BMW isn't selling alot of these. I found the ride yielded by the X3 is nice, nothing special, but predictably BMW. Handling on the X3 is above average, a touch sporty, but not exactly ... more

Advantages Advantages Power, Comfort and a very sleek design

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you are bothered it isn't as prestigious as some other 4x4s

A seriously powerful and comfortable car possibly one of the best 4x4s on the road, possibly not as prestigious as the likes of the Range Rover Sport/Vogue or the Porsche Cayenne but certainly a sleeker and faster car, a lot of the time when i stop at traffic lights i find myself pulling away much more quickly than any other car there and when you hear this drive past you, a beautiful roar not disimilar to that of a supercar. When you find yourself sitting in this car you will feel extremly safe, possibly untouchable probably due to the fact that you are quite a lot higher up than anyone else ... more

Advantages Advantages nice feel and good engine

Disadvantages Disadvantages extra features are a bit limited

at first sight you see an attractively desighned exterior that has the charecteristics of a 4x4 but shows off scary and sporty curves that just beg you to drive. the interior features the same smooth but sporty desighn. the engine is extremely smooth although the ride can be uncomfortable at times.handling is allright and suits perfectly to tight mountain roads but will also hndle on tight city roads. si actually smaller than seems so not too difficult to park. the seats in both back and front are very good and the front seats are very adjustable to many positions. the features such as radio ... more

    Advantages Advantages Nice Smooth Engine

    Disadvantages Disadvantages About everything else

Hi, I'd like to point out right now, that I do not own this car, this is from my own experience from the times I've driven it, borrowed it and generally used it. Where do I start. The first thing to mention is that this is an Automatic with a Step-Tronic box. The power delivery is immensely smooth, the changes are short, sharp and precise and if you toe it, the car will redline before changing gear, and it STILL feels effortless, with no fuss what so ever. The engine, is a tad overkill being a 3.0l and makes this thing go like a rocket. It's super quiet and refined, however epecially at todays ... more

    Advantages Advantages Spacious family vehicle.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Likes its fuel!

I've had this vehicle for just over 1 year. At the time of buying i was unsure whether to get a 2.0L diesel or the 3.0L Sport. I ended up getting a really good deal on the sport so thought i'll go for the bigger engine. Petrol/Diesel - me being female - doesn't really bother me!! Well, that was until i purchased this car. My lord its so thirsty!! At the moment i have nearly reached 8000 miles and i'm getting 17 mpg. I thought in time this would get better - unfortuantely it hasn't. (I travel 11 miles to work, mostly in traffic) On a plus side, even though the car is expensive to run, its a ... more

Advantages Advantages A good drive and looks brilliant

    Disadvantages Disadvantages breaks very easily

~INTRO~ The BMW X5 is a good looking car, that will make you look good in front of friend and so on. It has all the things that you would expect from a luxury car, such as: CD player, alarm, automatic gearbox, and a LOT of power behind the stearing wheel. ~GOOD POINTS~ It looks really good and I mean REALLY good, the best colour to get it in by far has to be Blue though. It has lots of features like in the list I wrote in the intro. It is comfortable enough to ride, which is what you expect from a car that costs £35,000. The power that you get from it is amazing, considering that it is a 4x4 ... more

Advantages Advantages The BMW X5 is a fantastic versatile, 4 wheel drive car.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

The BMW X5 is a fantastic car. Not only is is it incredibly attractive, it is also versatile and a very good performer. Converted to gas this car is also economical, without sacrificing on performance in any way. There are two ways of storing the gas canister, one is a 'doughnut' shaped tank which fits into the spare wheel space, and the other is a cylindrical tank, which would take up space in the boot. It would be nice to see this car available already converted to gas. The X5 is typical of BMW being very high quality and reliability whilst retaining the prestige of the brand. As there first ... more
