Advantages Advantages It's not expensive, it dries quickly and looks lovely

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Nothing

I do enjoy the smell of Creosote so I was a little bit disappointed with the B&Q Timbercare because it was a low odour and didn’t have the smell I thought it was going to have. I bought this 5 litre tub when I went to B&Q with my daughter. I was looking for paint but then decided I needed to do the back fence. I bought the green colour because I like the fence to blend in with the colour of my trees and bushes in my back garden. I used this when the weather was nice last year and I did three sides and I still have a lot left. It keeps though so long as you put the lid on properly. The five ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to treat fairly small areas; quick drying; relatively safe; value for money.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not quite as long-lasting as some other types of stains/treatments? More effort than spraying.

B&Q Timbercare: Red Cedar Cheaper than main branded alternatives, B&Q’s Timbercare represents good value for money. In my experience, it’s easy to apply and quick to dry. A little goes a very long way, the finish is good and the protection surprisingly long lasting. It’s also quite safe to use and brushes can be washed in water. Having long since abandoned creosote for exterior wood treatment, I only just discovered it had in fact been banned for domestic use several years ago, so it’s just as well I’ve been using safer products! As a reluctant DIYer, I’ve had some success with spray ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheaper than other brands.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Thin & watery, poor coverage, runny.

I purchased this product when my local B&Q ran out of another product in a similar shade of green. Sold in 9 litre tubs, I chose Forest Green from a range of 4 basic colours. Although it was substantially cheaper than the alternatives, I didn't like this product at all. The product was very watery and runny and it needed 2 coats before the colour showed evenly. It was also very messy to work with and splashed a lot. After unhappily living with the result for a week I went back to B&Q for my original choice of fence and shed treatment which was back in stock and I painted over the whole thing ... more

At the beginning of the summer I decided it time to actually get round to doing those jobs that had been put off over and over again, one of these jobs was the addition of a couple of new fence panels in the garden. The reason for this is basically my neighbour and the fact that there is only a small 3 foot high mesh fence between us and I need more than that, so, 6 foot timber fence panels it was!, don't get me wrong I like having neighbours, on one side we have a lovely couple but on the other offending side is a single woman whose a right old so-n-so (there's a thought for another Op there ... more
