When it comes to having a baby, the most unappealing part (to me anyway) was the amount of blood loss us women suffer after giving birth. Normal sanitary pads do not offer enough protection to absorb the amount of blood a women will lose. Maternity Pads Boots offer regular maternity pads and also ultra slim pads. The regular pads are now packaged in a girly, floral packet. Each pad is around 30cm in length and has a sticky label (accessed by pulling a paper tab off) which allows the pads to be stuck to underwear. There are no wings to offer additional support. These pads are designed with a ... more

***As a pre warning my review is about a “feminine” product and discusses the delights of giving birth, I’ve tried to keep it as non-graphic as possible however some may find uncomfortable reading*** When I was expecting my twin boys as a new mum I was clueless about labour and birth and the whole giving birth/ hospital experience. The word hospital bag was thrown about a lot and numerous websites and friends would list various items that need to be packed in there; some were debateable however essential items that need to be placed in there were maternity pads which is why I purchased Boots ... more

Giving birth is the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life and even though it is beautiful and a wondrous experience it is very messy and unpleasant and involves lots of blood. Both times I have given birth they have been vaginal deliveries so I can't comment on C-section deliveries but one of the essential products you will need are some maternity pads. I was fortunate to know this piece of information before I gave birth the first time and so stocked up on lots of these Boots maternity pads. After birth you are still very sore down below and have blood loss for a number of reasons ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Needed to use 2 at a time at first or they leaked

Introduction I gave birth to my beautiful little girl, Erin on the tenth of February this year. I had a natural (vaginal) birth, however you will still need maternity pads even if you have a caesarean birth. When I was pregnant I was totally oblivious about maternity pads but obviously my midwife informed me of their purpose and the importance of them, explained to me why I would need them and I soon understood that they were a neccesity to include in my hospital bag. I decided to purchase three packs of ten as I naively thought that would be more than enough and that the lot would last until ... more

Boots Maternity Pads In those few days coming back from the hospital with newly born Jack and being in a complete and utter daze, the last thing I wanted to do was to go out and buy more maternity pads because foolishly I hadn’t anticipated how much I would bleed and for how long. Which is where Himself came in useful by having to go down to Boots and pick me up some maternity pads. I can imagine that he wouldn't have felt very confident in getting the right sort of ones and not blushing profusely when handing over the money (and my advantage card I had made him take) but luckily I hadn't ... more

Boots Maternity pads are fantastic for soaking up blood after you have had a baby. They come in packs of 12 and I think for your stay in hospital you will need 3 packs as you really do need to change around every hour. I was quite surprised at how well these soaked everything up as after my baby my blood flow was VERY heavy and these worked for me. Your insert them into your underwear and press down to insure the adhesive is stuck down properly and then you are ready! These were very reasonably priced and were very comfortable but I just found these too thick which was a very good thing ... more

People cannot have missed the fact that I have recently given birth as I don't shut up about it. Lets face it, pregnancy is awkward, labour hurts and looking after a newborn baby is hard work, so I think women earn the right to have a bit of a moan about it all. Plus I'm a Virgo and we like to complain! One of the inconvenient parts of being a woman who has recently given birth is that you tend to bleed for quite some time afterwards. The professional term for this is 'lochia' and it is basically the uterus discharging leftover blood, mucus and placental tissue. The trouble is that this ... more

When I was preganant I went out to buy the things I would need for the birth and my stay in hospital. I was told I would need maternity pads so bought some from Boots. Yes you do need something nice and absorbant for those days after the birth but do they have to be as horrible as the boots pads? The are very basic and absorbant but so thick and brick shaped. The adhesive layer could be better too. Luckily a friend rescued me from the horror of the Boots pads by recommending the Tesco's maternity pads which are so much nicer and I think about the same price. The Tesco's ones have a really good ... more

When I got into the later stages of my pregnancy with my first child I went on a shopping spree to my local Boot's. I went armed with lists and lists of things that books and magazines had told me that I should be buying. What a big mistake. I bought dozens of things that I really didn't need. Amogst the many items that I bought were 2 packs of Boot's Maternity pads. The pads come in a white plastic bag that when opened becomes a drawstring bag. Each pack contains 10 pads and they cost around 99p. The bag itself has all the usual infomation you would expect to find on a product like this. The ... more

When preparing for the birth of my daughter I did the usual shopping and packing for hospital and I must admit that when I thought about maternity pads I thought, maybe normal pads will do but I decided that there must be a reason why they say that you should get maternity pads. So I bought some from Boots and they were great. They were very comfortable and did a very good job, I certainly was never worried about leakage etc. OK they aren’t the most attractive things in the world but who cares, the main thing is that you are comfortable and I certainly was with these. One of the main ... more
