Advantages Advantages Entertainment, the wide reaching tendrils of the internet

Disadvantages Disadvantages 'Playing' on the internet eats up the hours in the day, some people take the internet too seriously

Life without the internet? It's a loaded question. Taken at face value, yes I could live without the internet. Most of my internet is spent 'at play' - nattering on Facebook, writing and rating reviews, entering competitions and so on. I wouldn't like it, but at a push I could give that up - my theory was tested actually over Christmas 2010, Sky had ballsed up the installation and we were without the internet for nearly three weeks. We bought a dongle but the signal was so poor (as in you could only get the internet while standing in the corner in the kitchen) that we gave up once the initial ... more

Do we need the internet? With the internet... We got Greedy The internet is a powerful thing. We all want world domination and we can have it at our fingers tips. Quite literally. We can do pretty much anything - buy a car, listen to music, looks at our friend's photo albums, watch a film, find a lover, write a review ;) With the right knowledge of coding and HTML, we can also create our own worlds. It's a scary thought when put like that. We got Lazy The internet makes it easy to spend more time sat on our bums, and not getting the same daily exercise. Prime example of this; shopping. Nowadays ... more

Advantages Advantages No false leads or errors, no mis-understandings, real contact with people, no spam, safer..

Disadvantages Disadvantages Far less convenient, make life in the modern day a lot more difficult. More costly to communicate.

So, since the american military and a certain Tim Berners Lee decided to combine forces, the human race has been subjected to what is coined as 'The Information Superhighway'. The Internet. These very words you are reading this instant would not to possible without this mass of circuits boards, disk drives, wiring and bizarre languages, and over the last 20 years the world has made the Internet the controlling hub of all human concerns, albeit government, military, commercial or personal. Like a creeping vine, the Internet and it's incorporated troublesome offshoot, the World Wide Web, has ... more

Could there be a more ironic competition title guys, most of us not having a life because of the internet, the days of going out in the week to catch a gig or a movie a thing of the past for most, the pirating everything for nothing attitude and online porn the easier option. If you want to ten pin bowl or Laser Quest then go to Facebook apps and do it for nothing. You tap it into Google and there it is! Only students go out before Friday night these days (apart from those irritating ‘numpties’ on the BT advert). The internet and slumping in front of the telly or webcam is most people’s lives ... more

Intro I have no need to imagine life without the Internet, for I can indeed remember the days when no such thing existed, well not for us mere mortals anyway. I’ve sat and watched its rise of popularity until as now it has overtaken out lives. A few years back this was not the case, but the Smartphone now means that the Internet can be with you anywhere, anytime, anyplace, and I for one am not so sure that is a good thing, although I’d also have to say I am a big fan of the Internet Days gone by In days gone by if you required to find out some information the local Library would most probably ... more

Advantages Advantages access a world of knowledge

Disadvantages Disadvantages spend too much time online

In the year 2000 I was a student and spent a huge portion of my loan getting myself a PC and getting online. My PC cost a huge £800 for a big and bulky machine and I paid £15 a month to Freeserve for a painfully slow dial up connection, I think I had 30 hours a month online for that money. Move forward to the year 2012 and I bought a new desktop PC with a huge touchscreen monitor for half the amount I paid in 2000 and I pay less to access the internet now than I did 12 years ago but instead of having to dial the ISP I have fast broadband available 24 hours a day. I recently realised exactly ... more

Can I imagine my life without the Internet? Yes. Do I want to? No. As sad as it is, I have to admit my life does pretty much revolve around the Internet. If I'm not on it I'm probably thinking of something I saw online or will do online when I can, but at the moment I don't have much to focus on which doesn't help although for years the Internet has been a fairly big part of my life. Before the Internet I was just a child so I did the typical things kids do. I played with toys and dared to venture outside to play, or I was at school learning from books. Once I grew out of playing with toys I ... more

    Advantages Advantages No expectations

Disadvantages Disadvantages Less Information, Social Aspect, Business

Can you imagine your life without the internet? At aged just 26 I can distinctively recall life without the internet, when libraries were the most prominent source of information and a PC resembled a robot which took 10 minutes to boot up and clonked away as it processed a barely there word document. As a youngster I loved the library, newspapers and books. As I progressed from Primary School into Secondary School, we followed the progression of household computers and the internet as it developed. Of course the internet already existed at this point, the first internet service providers were ... more

Advantages Advantages Powerful convenience tool, has the world's answers and more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Negative impacts socially and on true emotions

Could I live without internet? Is there a true or false, right or wrong answer to this question? My own answer to this would probably be yes. I could definitely 'live' without it. I could survive on a day to day basis and get through life without the means of internet....but how great a life would that be? So many people have mentioned that because we lived without the internet before, surely we could live without it again? However, because of the nature of our lifestyle today and how the world has changed socially in the past decade, I believe it wouldn't be possible for so many reasons.... I ... more

Advantages Advantages Where else would you find so much knowledge and entertainment?

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be a little time consuming...

<html><head><title>Life Without The Internet???</title></head><body> No internet, at all? Not even on my phone? I just can’t imagine it… Before the internet became popular I was too young to use it anyway so I can’t exactly say I’d go back to what I did before (I don’t think playing with children’s toys would be quite as enjoyable as it used to be), but all I know is my time would probably be spent much more productively. I’d like to say I use the internet to aid solving world hunger, or to use its knowledge to become an all-round better person, but sadly I ... more
