Advantages Advantages No pregnancy or periods

Disadvantages Disadvantages Horrendously vulgar moods and skin

I've tried Cerazette for a month twice this year and it's just been horrendous for me! So many side effects and nothing really positive to say for it other than no periods! I was on Ovysmen for 5 years previously but I was taken off because they don't like you using it for a long time and I'd ballooned to nearly 17st (let's just say my appetite was a little TOO healthy!). When I went to the GP in February he refused to let me take Ovysmen anymore and recommended I tried Cerazette. He sold it to me with the "no periods" so I was excited to try it, BIG mistake! I started in April and lasted 5 ... more

Advantages Advantages It has a 12 hour window

Disadvantages Disadvantages Mood swings, greasy hair and skin, spots, no sex drive at all!

I went on cerazette because I cannot take the combined pill due to migranes, ditto the injection and implant... I tried mirena coil which was ok but made me spotty and did not help my periods unlike many women. So I was offered cerazette and thought a mini pill with a 12 hour window sounded great! Oh my days I was wrong!!! I had irregular periods to begin with and developed acne, but I thought I'd give it 6 months to see if I settled. I didn't, I became moody, irritable and lost all desire in sex! My hair and skin were constantly greasy and I felt nauseas when I had a bleed. I hate this pill ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Skin a bit more greasy

So far i have only got good things to say about Cerazette! I'm 24 and have been taking it for 8 months now. I began taking the combined pill (Dianette) when i was 15 as i had very bad acne and this cured my acne fantastically!! (I would recommend it to any teenager struggling with acne as i have discovered many of my friends used the pill to clear acne also) Unfortunately after 5 and a half years my doctor told me i had to change and stop taking dianette. I tried every combined pill on the market but had 3 weeks of bleeding out of every 4. Stressful to say the least! I even gave up for about 6 ... more

Advantages Advantages no periods, prevents pregnancy, safer than some , rarely affected by antibiotics

Disadvantages Disadvantages frequent side effects, risks of cancer, irregular/random periods

Cerazette is a mini pill, meaning it is progestogen only, and it works in three ways: Firstly, it prevents the release of an egg from the ovaries. Secondly, it thickens the mucus at the neck of the womb, making it harder for the sperm to enter. And thirdly, it changes the quality of the womb lining to prevent a fertilised egg implanting in the lining. - - - I was previously on microgynon-30, and had been for about 2 and a half years when I began suffering from horrific migraines. As soon as I informed my doctor I was taken off of these tablets (as it could cause a stroke) and put straight on ... more

Advantages Advantages Stops Pregnancy - for a number of reasons!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Awful mood swings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly i was to seriously thank everyone for writing a review, it has help me to realise i wasn't going crazy. I was put on Cerazette after taking Femodene for 14 years (long story) and took it for six months.I read the reviews when i was given the pills and was a bit alarmed at the horrible reviews but thought 'nah, i'll be fine, it can't be that bad'! From two weeks in the bleeding started and it was constant from light to brown to red to a light period. After three months i went back to the docs and and told her what was happening and also mentioned slight mood swings. I started feeling a ... more

Advantages Advantages Work well for some

    Disadvantages Disadvantages I fell pregnant

How do they work? The mini pill is a form of contraception that works in 3 ways it increases the natural mucus on the neck of the womb making it more difficult for sperm to break through and this meaning it is less likely for fertilisation to take place. It also works to prevent ovulation and to decrease quality of the womb lining so preventing any fertilised eggs to attach o the womb meaning no pregnancy. To begin taking the pill you wait until your period begins and then take the first pill the first day of your cycle up to the 5th day and this begins the routine. This will begin to work ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to take, works for me

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me

I have two kids and at the moment that is enough for me, who knows what the future holds but for now my husband and I need to take some form of protection when we have sex in order for me to not become pregnant again. As we are married and both faithful we do not use condoms anymore as we do not really see the need for them so I take the pill in order to prevent pregnancy. For the last couple of years I have taken Cerazette on advice from my doctor. Quite a few years ago now I had a DVT (blood clot) in my right leg and even though I am not predisposed to having anymore I still cannot take a ... more

i am 27, i was on the combined pill Cilest for approx 10 years and was very happy with it. after having my second child in december 2008 i went back to taking cilest and started experiencing very bad headaches and tiredness so decided after a year of trouble with this pill that i would stop taking anything altogether for a while. after plodding along with condoms etc for a while i decided to visit the doctor end of last year and sort out a new pill. as i had been experiencing the headaches the doctor said my only option was a combined pill and decided to prescribe me cerazette.
