    Churchill passionate about insurance, so their slogan says. Really I say how about passionate about being totally unhelpful! We had a car accident 11th August this year on the way back from holiday in Devon. We`d travelled about half an hour and ended up as car 2 in a line of 4 who had a bump..well number 4 car drove into the back of us all. I was taken from the scene in an ambulance leaving husband and kids with the mess to sort out.     Where do I start, first off they were more than happy to take my money for the insurance, but when I came to renew my policy elsewhere, thats when the trouble really started. Initially after first insuring with them I had trouble getting documents from them, having to make four phone calls in two weeks to receive my insurance policy. Every person that I spoke to said "there must be a problem with your post because we have done everything right".     Having recently changed to Churchill (feb 2007)after being with Norwich Union for some years, i have been pretty dissapointed with the service I have had. I changed cars last year and having got a much smaller car, Churchill beat my NU renewal quote by a considerable margin, which was a good start. A month ago I was rear ended after stopping at a red traffic light, the guy behind didn't. Only minor damage, less than the excess, and the other driver admitted liability straight away.     The advertisement and marketing campaign for Churchill is slick and the best for any motor insurance company. In London Churchill advertisements are found on the back of London buses and are eye-catching. The television advertisement is fantastic. Having an animated dog marketing the product is great innovation. The dog has great character and charisma and imparts a feel-good factor about Churchill. Churchill also has a reputation for getting a good deal for young people. The web site has a nice shade of colours and was easy to navigate.     If winston knew how insurance business was conducted in his name. Last year we bought three seperate insurance policies with Churchill: two for cars the other for household (buildings and contents) . All our eggs in the one basket (case). As it were.That was a big and expensive mistake. It takes ages to get through to their call centre. Once you have done this ( assuming you have the patience of a saint) you will then discover that no one individual is responsible for your particular case.     Churchill, like the majority of insurance companies, are guilty of this one. As a driver of 11 years of completely accident, claim and offence free motoring, I am getting sick and tired of paying inflated insurance premiums that do not reflect my skill behind the wheel. I don't speed, drink and drive, use my mobile whilst driving or drive aggressively. So why am I paying high premiums that are calculated on the basis of other idiot drivers who fall into my category.     I have been happy with the amount I've been paying until it came to changing cars. I rang up and they asked for the reg number which came back with the results that my new car was a 1.4, even though I knew it was a 1.1 because I cannot afford to insure a 1.4 at this point in my life. So I had to except the quote until I had the log book in front of me, along with the admin fee. I already wasn't happy with the £15 admin fee because how it can cost £15 for someone to type a few words on a computer I'll never know.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Spectacularly inept claims management - truly one of the worst companies I have dealt with

    We called Churchill to resolve a blocked drain issue that we had over a month ago. As I write, we have an open drain in our garden that Churchill's "preferred drain supplier" ANSA came to open just before Christmas. They dug up our shed to access the drain and then left, because they did not have the ability to fix the problem having opened it. We have heard nothing from them for a week whilst we keep our children (aged 6, 4 and 2) out of the garden because of the health hazard of the open drain.     I am a driver of 11 years accident free. I had my first accident in Dec 2002, At first they where fantastic took the car the next day but left me with the smallest car I have ever driven. At 6ft 2 driving a 106 for 2 weeks is hell. especially when my own car was twice the size. My car was returned all clean and as I thought fixed. I drove the car 1 mile after it had been delivered and noticed that the airbag light flashing on and off and the engine fan wouldn't turn off.     I am heartened to read that others are/have suffered from Churchill. In February 2007 this firm removed money from my bank account which was an unauthorised fraudulent transaction I insured with them from March 2006 to March 2007 However in February 2007 they made up a direct debit mandate and submitted it to my bank without first informing me that they were in the process of doing this, under the disguise of renewing my car insurance. They failed to inform me that they were going to do this. They have written to me since and said that they did inform me of this twice, before the money was ... more
