Advantages Advantages Small, Light, Bright and Powerfull

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not Enough Accessories

Compaq's iPAQ H3970 is by far one of the most commonly used PDAs on the market, and for a reason too. The H3970 has all the gadgets. Bluetooth, an SD expansion slot, Infrared, a 64mb internal memory. It may not seem much, but the SD expansion slot can hold up to 4GB on a card! Bluetooth's range is around 5-10 meters, and can be used to sync your PDA with a computer, transfer data, or do any number of other things. The PDA features a normal headphone jack that can be plugged into any standard speaker, headphone or audio cable. One thing I did notice, is that the pre-loaded operating system ... more

Advantages Advantages Clear screen, great all round system, excellent price.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't come with windows 2003CE as standard.

I have just laid my old Compaw 3630 to rest after getting a new 3970. What a wonderful system. I can still use it as an mp3 player and for e-books, but the extra software available blew me away. One feature I initially thought "gimmicky" was the nevo universal remote control software but this has been surprisingly handy, especially then the kid hides the t.v and dvd remotes. The Bluetooth is a great addition especially as I plan to buy a bluetooth gps system . The system is easily expanded with sd memorycards using the internal slot. The only downside with this little gem is the extra jackets ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic Scree, Bluetooth, Expandable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pocket PC not yet optimized for this iPAQ

The iPAQ 3970 may be seen by some as the "poor relation" to HP's flagship iPAQ 5450 with it's much touted fingerprint scanning security "feature". However, the 3970 stikes the perfect balance between cutting edge & bleeding edge. The 3970 is a mature prodcut and appears to be more reliable & robust than the 5450. So what do I use my iPAQ for. One of my favourite features is GPS navigation (Pocket CoPilot via an add on sleeve). This is best explained by my recent trip to Wales from Bournemouth via Dorking (yes, not the most obvious route, but I was picking up my Mum & Dad). I already had My ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent screen, good amount of ram

Disadvantages Disadvantages Occasional problems synching via cradle, no CF slot

I got one of these about three months ago and have been using it daily ever since. The main reason I opted for one of these is the quality and brightness of the screen, it is by far the sharpest one I have seen. I also wanted the features of pocketpc2002 and at least 64meg of ram. The 3970 has 64 meg ram, 48 meg rom of which 16 meg is available for storage. It comes with bluetooth built in which I have been using with a GPRS account on a Sony Ericcson moby. This works very well - I use it very frequently for realtime stock quotes, emails etc, get good fast access. The battery life could be ... more
