Advantages Advantages Range of products is good

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quality of plants has gone downhill very badly, and customer service is indifferent

I've been a loyal and regular customer of Crocus.co.uk for about six years and in the last 12 months or so I've seen it go downhill. It's been incredibly disappointing but on at least three occasions in the last five that I've purchased plants from them, the quality of these plants has been far below even an average standard - and not at all what I would expect from Crocus. Their customer service response to me has also declined each time - they were extremely helpful, apologetic and accommodating the first time but when I unfortunately had to contact them last month to enquire about the ... more

1 Star Quick review of Crocus.co.uk by Narcissusandgoldmund 23/06/2008
Good website and selection of plants but sadly sometimes very much more expensive than my local garden centre prices. Worst problem is that delivery unbearably slow (pay 2 delivery charges if you want any sort of a chance that the plants will be despatched within two weeks) and customer service non-contactable.

3 Stars Quick review of Crocus.co.uk by Kifsgate 18/06/2008
The service has definately gone down hill! Crocus used to provide excellent & speedy service but my most recent order has gone significantly over the 14 day limit without any communication why. It has been impossible to speak to anyone who can help & they seem to have outsourced their customer service function without the back up systems which allow orders to be checked except by e mail. I asked for the name of the MD in my fourth call to them of the day & half an hour later I've had confirmation of despatch today! Seems a good tactic. Plants ... more

Advantages Advantages Wide range, nice site, delivers on time(just)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pricey p&p for small orders, misleading images

Over the past few years I've become quite a keen gardener, experimenting with different plants and flowers as well as trying my hand at fruit and vegetable growing. It's been a very rewarding hobby and I always get a real buzz when I get to serve my own tomatoes with a salad for lunch or receive a compliment on my front garden displays. I stumbled upon Crocus.co.uk pretty much by accident, you see I'm a member of Lightspeed Research which is a survey website where you build up points and exchange them for vouchers etc… I'd built up a nice little amount of points and decided to see what rewards ... more

5 Stars Thank you for shopping at crocus.co.uk Review with images 16/08/2003

Advantages Advantages Fast, easy to use, great cusomer service...

Disadvantages Disadvantages Delivery charge is a bit steep

Crocus.co.uk was recommended to me by a friend a few years ago, since then I have purchased many plants inc. Grasses, bamboo and climbers, 2 battery powered globe outdoor lights, a large bag of compost and 6 pots in varying size and prices, and found them very reasonable! All of which have arrived within a few days, and have been of sound quality. Living in London it's pretty hard to get hold of these sorts of materials without a car, so I have found shopping at Crocus.co.uk a dream. WHO ARE THEY Crocus was launch in April 2000, and since then they've grown into the biggest gardening website ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages Online ordering, delivery to your door

Disadvantages Disadvantages Website not updated frequently

I'd shopped with them once before, and they were okay, so I went back to order 2 climbing plants. After a bit of searching (the website isn't very intuitive) I managed to find the right area, and chose the plants I wanted. Both were showing delivery within 10-15 days. So I placed the order. 2 days later, I noticed that my credit card had been charged and thought, "Great, they'll be arriving soon!" Unfortunately, not. I waited 28 days, and still hadn't heard anything. Paid the credit card bill, expecting to receive my order at any time. I tried to call, but their phone opening hours weren't ... more

Advantages Advantages Advice as well as plants and accessories

Disadvantages Disadvantages There are no disadvantages

I came upon crocus.co.uk by chance but now it is firmly in my favourites list and will definately remain there. Crocus has a wide range of gardening products for sale from statues and water features to tools and equipment and it also sells a large variety of plants , some of which are quite difficult to find in your average garden centre or local nursery. The prices are reasonable , I don't think they are particularly cheap but they are no more expensive than anywhere else. There are some nice decorative items for the garden such as a bronze labrador puppy statue which sells for just under £100 ... more

Advantages Advantages Loads of colour pics, e-mail plant doctor

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't think of any

I found the Crocus web site about 18 months ago. It's very well organised with clear headings and groups. There is a mass of helpful advice on design, colour theming, container gardening and many, many more subjects - and you can use all this advice without buying a thing! I have the RHS Garden Encyclopedia at home but find I never have to refer to it, I just use Crocus for anything and everything. I've spent approximately £100 with them and the plants have been top quality, and think of the benefits of delivery, no struggling home from the garden centre with compost spilling all over the car ... more

    Advantages Advantages Comprehensive, Beautiful, Informative

Disadvantages Disadvantages You'll want to shop til you drop

Gardening has never appealed to me. It was something I swore I’d never do. In fact, when I bought a house a few months ago, I deliberately bought one without that pesky patch of grass surrounded by what I believed were called ‘borders’. However, my house does have a yard – a large one. The yard was scruffy when I moved in. I thought I’d better smarten it up ready for the barbecue season, so I whitewashed the high walls. They looked absolutely great. Trouble was, the yard looked very bare. Not exactly inviting enough for a barby. The place needed something more ... more
