Daihatsu Grand Move

We bought the car in january 03 . we searched the forcourts of many dealers for about 3 months looking at all small cars(fiesta,punto,clio,306/7). As we were not in any hurry to buy a car we could take our time to look,we ended up in romford essex when we cam across the atoz,we both thought we had found the car we wanted ,small enough for my wife to drive, room for kids and a bit of boot space . then came the test drive,my loooord it was sooooo slow i nearly fell a sleep. we were on our way home when we went past suzuki romford. there we saw the daihatsu grand move plus,at first i did not like ... more

OK, so Daihatsu wasn't the first choice for a car to replace my Wife's Fiat Punto (which was crap). But the Punto had to go so ... we found this slightly odd looking car sitting on the forecourt of a (non-Daihatsu) dealer with a couple of thousand miles on the clock. It did well on the test drive and we cut a deal. Since then my Wife has used it constantly - and loves it!. I have just taken delivery of my second Grand Move - this one not the plus but the new shape instead. The first was a reliable joy to drive around town. i agree with others that for longer journeys it is tiring. I bought the second at auction and got it so cheap as people aren't aware of this gem. It carries a huge amount and is easily adapted. For town work it is as nippy as I want and turns like a taxi making it the easiest car to park I have ever had. Vision is good and I agree that the construction is flimsy but the latest 9 year old model hasn't a spot of obvious rust nor did the last one ... more

I have had my Grand move for 2 years. I am not thinking of changing for a while. It's a great family car, easy to drive, park, etc. It's low maintence and handles well on a motorway. It's a great all rounder I think for city driving. The rear seat's are great and spacious for a child seat. The central locking is an advantage and most important are the Child locks. I also like the Idea of twin airbags. This may be a disavantage for people who have newborn children as you can't place a child seat with a front airbag. I can definately say that I am 100% happy with this car, the low maintenace ... more
