Advantages Advantages Looks good, fast processor, no over-heating

Disadvantages Disadvantages Only 3 USB ports, short battery-life

The Dell Inspiron 1545 was bought for me from PC World as a Christmas present, however due to the fact that mobility problems were preventing me from being able to sit at the computer desk, I was actually given it a good month before Christmas and have been using it for a couple of months now. Although the Inspiron 1545 can be customised on Dell’s own website, this was bought as a standard model, with only the choice being which colour the top was, but it did work out a lot cheaper than buying the equivalent from Dell direct at only £399 including free delivery. The Styling The 1545 is one ... more

I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop nearly two years ago, to replace my freestanding home computer system. I did a lot of research before choosing the Dell Inspiron 1545 and it has lived up to all the good reviews out there, proving reliable, efficient and relatively problem free. After checking around I ordered my laptop from Tesco online, and at £349 including one year’s subscription to Norton Antivirus software, it was definitely a bargain at the time. Within an hour of taking it out the box everything was installed and ready to go. Windows Vista took a little getting used to after ... more

Advantages Advantages Good spec, reasonable price, great processor

Disadvantages Disadvantages The piano black surface attracts dust and dirt.

I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is a big fan of making videos on her digital camera and downloading music - two things which can eat up hard drive space. I did a fair bit of research before purchasing and decided I wanted to get the best spec I possibly could for my money and the Inspiron ticked all the boxes. I paid £399 in January 2009 in Currys for the laptop which was the ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Performance, Attractive cover, brilliant screen quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Smudges around keyboard, poor battery life

I bought this laptop from PC World in August and I am now at university. Since coming to university, I have used the laptop everyday for a wide range of tasks - and yes, I believe it has performed very well each time. Performance Both Startup, and shutdown are very speedy, ideal when you are in a hurry - as many students are! Once the logged in, the desktop appears rather quickly even though I have large programs such as Adobe Dreamweaver installed. When I bought Norton 360, I was worried that this would slow my laptop down too much since this is a large program, known for slowing down ... more

I got this Dell inspiron 1545 laptop back in late 2009 after hearing nothing but good reviews about the model and loved the fact there was lots of different colours available. I chose to get the flamingo pink colour which is a darkish pink. I bought my laptop online directly from Dell and if i remember correctly it was £499, this includes the built in webcam and the colour which were £50 each. The laptop looks great and it's got a really shiny tint to the screen and the casing looks like it has a high gloss finish. At first i was paranoid about getting fingerprints on it etc but have soon got ... more

Advantages Advantages it is very professional looking, really easy to use!

Disadvantages Disadvantages None that I have found.

I really love this laptop, it isn't picticuly high powered enough for gaming but if all you want is to use the net, wat dvd's/tv, listen to music and use microsoft programes then this laptop is perfect. I have not really had any bad experience with it, the only real thing i had to change was vista, it came with vista home basic when i bought it and i put windows 7 on it instead as with my expereince vista slow most laptops down. Design & Durability One of the things that drew me to this laptop was is design it is very simple but very slick. I don't have much of a technical mind and so being me ... more

Advantages Advantages Good specs, fast, wonderful extended warranties

Disadvantages Disadvantages Feels a bit flimsy, no indicator lights showing wifi connection, etc.

This is really more a review of Dell's warranty than of the laptop itself, but as there was no section for such a thing I thought I'd combine the two. The laptop: It's a good little machine with pretty good specs for its price. You can already get more for your money than when we bought it just a few months ago, so check the current offers (make sure to look around the Web site, as I found by clicking on various offers I got the same machine for less) You can also now get a free upgrade to Windows 7 when that comes out later this year. It's fast, cute, and does everything we need. You can get ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Limited in regards to gaming, mouse seems to go walk abouts at times, catching the wifi button

After my house was set on fire in August last year one of the things I needed replacing was my laptop which I used as an integral part of my own personal work. In November with life finally getting back to normal we had a look around the usual places, PC World, Comet, Curry's and the settled on the Dell Inspiron 1545 from Tesco (I can't remember the price though I think it was around the £400 mark at the time). The insurance had been nice enough to send us an interim payment for the stuff lost in the blaze and as we were still living with the grandparents at the time it seemed to make sense to ... more

I really rue the fact that I own this laptop. I got it way back in 2009 as a present from my sister. Although I am not a big fan of Laptops but there are times when I do require this handy version when I am mobile. I won’t say that there are no pluses for this Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop but the negatives are so glaring that they caste too many shadows on the pluses. I agree that Bluetooth is a not big necessity but the webcam is. Let’s try an honest run on both its highs and lows and just bring out what it really boils down to. Advantages Advantages Cheap, good brand, lots of features,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Probably not powerful enough for games, bottom of the market now

The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks). Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the ... more
