Disadvantages Disadvantages Too much knowledge can be a dangerous thing

Such a tough question to answer in one way; so easy in another. It all depends on what mood I am in and whether anything has happened that day to make me doubt more than usual. As a child I believed in everything; life after death; ghosts; demons; pixies; fairies. You name it I believed in it all. As I grew older I still believed in most things but with a little more caution. Now at 42 I don't believe in any of it; but I truly want to. However, I do think it's one of those subjects that will always be debated and negated. If I was given absolute 110% proof I'm still not sure I would believe; I ... more

As a teenager I am growing up finding things out for myself, developing my own opinion on things and just generally making my own decisions. But when it comes to this - I am torn. Just mainly because I haven't made my mind up about whether or not God exists and therefore I have had people debate with me over the fact that If I don't believe in God then I can't believe in the after life , blah blah blah. Again I am a teen so I am at the stage in life where I am making up my own mind about things instead of being told to think this and think that. I grew up in a non religious family however my ... more

    Advantages Advantages Comfort

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lack of evidence either way

I have no prove there is a God and no prove there isn’t which leads me to my own logical conclusion that I am an agnostic. Not everything in life is rational though and I have more than a gut feeling that there is life after death. Humans are capable of such strong emotions and live such profound lives (whether they are remembered for long or not) that it would be hard for me to imagine that just ceasing on death. I think it highly probable there is a God and life after death. I know that emotions etc often have a biological root in a certain part of the brain but God if he/she/it exists could ... more

Advantages Advantages Shared experience advice on problems

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Negative feedback exposure

Ihave always had Paranormal experiences I saw Spirits as a Child, though not often. As Ive grown up my experiences have increased which is too much to go into, However over the last 2 years of living in my Victorian House I have had never ending scary experiences I say scary but Im quite comfortable now. The thing that worries me is that I believe a Spirit keeps opening my Windows and Front Door sometimes in the Night when we are in Bed. Myself and my Daughter watched the Door open in front of our eyes. I have checked over and over and found no problems with the door. Many times I have gone ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice to think that you could live on somehow.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It doesn't make any sense from a scientific point of view.

There are three possible positions on the question of life after death. It either exists, it doesn't or we don't know. I don't believe there is any convincing evidence for life after death. Some say that "out of body experiences" are evidence for an afterlife. However, recent research, describing EEG (elctroencephalograph) readings has described a burst of brain activity shortly before the brain shuts down in terminally-ill patients. “As blood flow slows down and oxygen levels fall, the brain cells fire one last electrical impulse. It starts in one part of the brain and spreads in a cascade ... more

This is an issue upon which there are essentially two points of view. On the one hand, there is the religious view of there being a heaven or paradise etc. Then there is the alternative view of someone dies and that is that. However much it would be comforting to believe the former version of life after death. I just can’t. My viewpoint is firmly the latter. I believe that everyone who dies does so because that was the time that their lifestyle and genetics meant for them to die. Their soul will not float to some comforting paradise somewhere far away where they can be reunited with long lost ... more

The ridiculous Derek Acorha and his likewise séance with Michael Jackson program was voted worse TV programme of 2009 by a comfortable mile by the readers of the Press Association. It's a bit odd that Michael's first interview from the 'other side' would be to a peroxide Scouser that would not look out of place in a tacky Wirral hairdressers. I didn't see the séance but to be worse than the Horne and Corden show it must have been incredibly awful! Advantages Advantages Death is only for the body and not for the soul which is eternal

Disadvantages Disadvantages we cannot actually prove scientifically but can only experience and infer by our own

My first question about the life after death arose when my sister died. I kept wondering what happened to the soul t hat held the body of my sister who died at the age of 43 leaving behind two daughters. She had so many desires, aspirations and fought bravely with the disease "Sceledodrama" for more than 6 years and she knew she would die since all her inner parts became tightened and even her tongue beacame smaller and tight and she could take only liquid. But until the last breath, she was a bundle of energy (whatever energy was left with her with her meagre helpings of food) and her sense ... more

Advantages Advantages Its a mystery to me so don't know of any advantages

Disadvantages Disadvantages No one has come back to let me know if there are any disadvantages

In my opinion there must be something else after we shake off this mortal coil. OK this debate will rage on for as long as mankind is alive probably without a satisfactory answer but can there really be nothing to look forward to after we have gone? The gift of life is a mystery in itself, why are we here?? Science tells us that it all started with a big bang and maybe we are heading for oblivion, absolutely nothing and not an atom will remain to show we ever exisited.Life therefore is a happy mistake, eons of evolution later here we are, clever monkeys with an over developed imagination capable ... more

Initial Feelings I am only sixteen years old boy and am well aware that I have only scraped the surface of the wonders of life. I have also never lost anyone close to me so I view death and afterlife with caution and naivety. I find it hard to believe in a Heaven in the traditional sense because it is simply irrational. I don’t wish to offend anybody that believes in Heaven as I believe that opinions, my opinions, will change over time and are retrospect to occurrences in my life but as it stands I find there no reason to believe in a Heaven, or even life after death. My Beliefs My Physics ... more
