Advantages Advantages it looks alright, and the buttons are reasonably straightforward

Disadvantages Disadvantages uneconomical ink cartridges, poor or liney prints too common

I don’t exactly hate this printer, but I would not recommend it to anyone, for a number of what I think are rather important reasons. It’s ink usage is pretty terrible. I bought this printer as the ink seemed atleast somewhat reasonable, and could be purchased in four separate process colours. I figured it would be easy to change one without having to change them all. It has small cartridges with tiny amounts of ink. The cartridges run out astoundingly quickly. It turned out not to be good value at all. If any ink colour runs out, you cannot print at all. I would love the option to print the ... more

Advantages Advantages Memory card reader, photo copier/scanner, Affordable at just under £50

Disadvantages Disadvantages large and bulky which means heavey aswell in this case, slow, not stylish

I've had this printer for little over 6 months now and i think its a decent printer as it does most things that want or need to do. One of positives with this printer is that it has a memory card reader at the side which for some reason lets say the cable of your digi cam fails then you can always slide your memory card into the printer instead and your photos/videos will instantly come up once you click on the folder. Its not the most stylish printer out there and is also qute bulky compared to some of the later printers and to clear things up the printout speed isnt up to much either but ... more

Advantages Advantages Quality, value for money, reliable

Disadvantages Disadvantages On occasions, paper does not go in straight

I've always found Epson printers to be reliable and after my last one died after 6 years of use, I bought a DX 5000 six months ago. It was easy to set up and has been very straight forward to use. The print quality is excellent, better than some lasers I've had. Makes quite a noise when it takes a sheet of paper, and on occasion hasn't taken it in straight but that's my only gripe. Colour quality and matching is also good and images come out clean and sharp. Have just used the scanner for images going in some iphoto books and they have come out very well. The cartridges are a lot cheaper than ... more

Advantages Advantages High quality printing, scan, copy, fast output

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite large in size, but it's an all in one - so cant complain

I bought this Epson Stylus DX 5000 in Jan 2007, after my previous Epson died on me! I chose an Epson printer because I had such good use out of my old Epson C40, which was a very cheap printer that ended my lasting my 5 years! This one has yet to disappoint me. The main thing that I have really noticed is the sound difference when printing, this one is much quieter and can printer colour or black pages quickly. The photo quality is much better than my last one and it is a very nice feature to have a scanner and printer all in one. However this makes the printer quite big in my opinion ... more

Advantages Advantages price, (of both printer and ink), scan and print quality, easy of use, looks

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of screen, changing ink (untill you get used to it)

I bought my Epson DX 5050, (just a darker grey than the DX5000), for just under £50. After reviewing other similar multifunction printers, I settled on this printer for many different reasons. The main being the price of the ink! Another print I had thought to buy would have cost £40 pounds for a full ink set! This was about how much that printer retailed for! Epson, on the other hand sells cartridges for he DX5000 at about £9 a piece, and more importantly, refurbished for about £4! Unlike some lower range competitors, (in a similar price range), the Dx5050 sells cartridges separately, so you ... more

Advantages Advantages Good Scanner and print quality, looks

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None so far...

The first thing you will notice about this printer is its striking good looks un a combination of gunmetal grey and silver. It makes a great asphetic adition to any work place. The scanner produces good quality scans, and the software epson provides is fairly simple to use. However i would suggest it is a little too basic. But if you have other software that you can import the scan sto, then you should be fine. The indervidual print cartridges provide a cost effective and good quality print solution for both colour an black and white. As for using this printer to print photos, it couldn't be ... more
