    Booket one week accommodation in Rio de Janeiro through Expedia.co.uk. The write-up and information on the accommodation was excellent so we felt confident of an excellent time in Rio de Janeiro. My wife as pregnant at the time, so we wanted somewhere close to amenities and her Portuguese school in Ipanema. We arrived at the hotel to find that it was, in fact, a flat with two rooms that were let out to paying guests (and all this through Expedia!). Many of the hotel descriptions were false.     We booked easily through the website and had confirmations, but got to the airport and our flights weren't booked. Phoned Expedia they said they were and were unhelpful. We had to pass the person on the phone to the front desk before they believed us. We were then told to transfer to another airport in the uk to see if we could get flights. Basically we had to do all the running around ourselves they really didnt want to help when we were totally not to blame! Been trying to get compensation for their mess up for months and just get told they'll ring back and they never do.When we do speak to ... more

    easy to use website and gives great deals on flights and hotels. I have used expedia.co.uk many times to book and check flights and have never had any problems. The layout could be better, however the website content is great. I always check it when booking flights especially. Have not dealt with customer support, but havent had problems either. I think they have a great tool for the travel industry which is very beneficial. especially since they are so well known and a main brand. I like how you can view different airlines and compare timings, price. availability and so on with different ... more

    I recently booked a flight with Expedia for the same day and while the money was taken out of my account immediately, Expedia didn't confirm to the airline on time which resulted to my booking being cancelled. I received a call and an email from Exepdia informing me that they were unable to proceed with my booking as it was for the same day and i had to book again for the same flight through another travel agency. Although my booking with Expedia was cancelled by EXPEDIA itself and in writing, they are to date still holding my money (£1650). After dozens of calls with useless customer advisors ... more

    I have recently had to book 2 sets of 3rd party flights and i can honestly say expedia has been excellent on the following accounts. 1st being able to search the flights for cost ,save them in my itinery, and then look at the next flight with different going out dates with the same return date as the other flight, once i'd saved them in my itinaries i was able to call up expedia on a 0300 number not a premium rate number like alot of the other companies and airlines, and then pay for them over the phone with my credit card. they checked all the details confirmed the prices i had saved and then ... more

    Expedia is a great site which lets you search for holidays , flights , hotels ,travel insurance etc. The website is well layout and the design of light background colours and dark writing makes the text easy to read , the site is easy to navigate through , with tabs at the top the page offering links to different pages such as travel insurance. I have used this website to search for hotels and flights in prague , you type in where you are flying from , and any other airports you would be able to fly from and your destination and it compares different flight prices and hotel prices to give you ... more

    The only way to properly evaluate a firm's customer service is when something goes wrong. I booked 2 flights on 12 October 2010. I received a confirmation email on the 15th October - which I assumed meant that my flights had been booked. However, after 2 weeks I received another email with the subject "Continue booking your trip". I checked on the internet and instead of my flights being confirmed, it said that Expedia were still waiting for confirmation from the airline that the tickets were available at that price.     A travel booking website which is one of the best known on the web as well as being one of the more competitively priced. All aspect of travel can be purchased on line including insurance. Expedia was initially set up so that the consumer could book their on trip by bolting flights, hotels, car hire together. This way they may get it cheaper than a package but also get a trip which is a bit more adventurous than usual. Expedia still do this however they also now do sell packages as well.     After booking our last trip to Edinburgh for the Rugby finals with Expedia and buying our tickets to the game we get an email from expedia 2 days before to tell us that the hotel was overbooked and that they couldn't find us alternative accommodation in the centre of town and that we would have to stay in Livingston!!! .... Livingston ????     Disadvantages Disadvantages I feel my personal financial information is not safe with Expedia

    Expedia passed my credit card detail to a third party provider without me realizing it - only when my credit card was charged by someone did I followed up and realized what's happend. I wrote a complain, and they responded that I should read fine print when pressing buttons.... After that I closed my account because I do not feel my personal financial information is safe with Expedia and I rather book though other web sites then read every word on the page before pressing a button . My time is worth something, and I want to rely on providers I use and not hire a lawyer every time I do a ... more
