    Many of you will know, and most likely will be similar in this, that I like a bargain. Yet, with some products I won't compromise. I'm happy to try new brands and stores own brands but as yet, I've not found a washing up liquid that compares to Fairy Original Liquid. Fairy, so I hear, is fifty years old. NOT that old, as it's slightly younger than me! But I remember, as a few others of you will, watching Blue Peter and trying to get mum to part with the washing up liquid container so that I could make whatever was the latest idea on the programme.     Fairy liquid is now over 50 years old so that in itself indicates that it is a very good brand. It is a really nice brand and one that speaks volumes in the quality of all of the washing up liquids and one that works really well to clean dishes. This original liquid is one that I buy on a regular basics especially when it is on special offer as it was a while ago when I bought it for only £1. It comes in a transparent, plastic bottle with a flip lid, the liquid inside is a rich green colour and it has a really nice perfume fragrance.     Like Mr Sheen furniture polish there are some household cleaning products that have been around for years and years, Fairy liquid is another that I remember both my parents and grandparents using when I was a child and as the years have gone by and I've grown up I find myself using the same products that they once did. Fairy Original is perhaps the best known washing up liquid on the market, it's been around for decades and despite stiff competition from other brands I do think it remains the best product available for getting your dishes and cutlery clean.     When choosing washing up liquid, I have always preferred Fairy to other supermarkets own brand as I feel as though Fairy cleans the dishes better and tackles dried on food without having to scrub the dishes too much. Fairy is a well known brand and one that has been around for years. I remember going down to my Nan's house when I was younger and seeing the old style white fairy bottle sitting next to the sink.     Fairy is the most popular washing liquid, I didn’t understand why everyone was raving about it until I used some myself. No wonder it’s been a leader for over 50 years! Price and packaging Fairy washing up liquid is available to purchase from anywhere that sells cleaning lotions and potions. It’s available in a few different sizes, I purchased the 1.2L bottle for £2 from Asda. Fairy’s packaging has changed quite a bit since it started out all them years ago in the staple white bottle with green logo.     Advantages Advantages only need a little to do a lot of dishes, works well on delicate items and grease

    Disadvantages Disadvantages slightly more expensive to purchase, but lasts longer than cheaper brands.

    I do try to make the most of the pennies we have, so I have experimented around within the washing up liquids range, and I keep coming back to this liquid because it really does do what it should. Fairy liquid has been a product I have been accustomed to since childhood. My parents and grandparents always had a bottle of it by the sink which was mostly used for washing up dishes, and I have followed suit.     I was doing my washing up this evening, and it dawned on me, how bloody brilliant Fairy Liquid is. It has been around for ages, 50 years to be precise - you probably remember the adverts from back in the day. It was always advertised as the washing up liquid that cares for your hands, as well as cleaning your dishes. Their website claims that a 650ml bottle can last for up to 8 weeks. I find this quite extraordinary. I wash up, on average at least every other day. I bought a bottle of 500ml Fairy Liquid on offer, for £1, back in February...and I'm still using it.     The washing up liquid comes in a squeeze bottle so it is easy to get the product from the bottle into the washing up bowl and it does not come out too fast which I fantastic as you only need a small amount of this liquid mixed with warm water and it lathers up really well helping provide a great environment to clean you dishes. I believe the consistency is perfect it is not runny and a little gel like which is the main reason why it does not fly out of the bottle meaning you do not waste the product and can easily add the small amount that is needed.The smell is nice to I like the apple ... more

    When it comes to washing my dishes, I can get quite lazy. I do have a dishwasher but never tend to use it as it doesn't provide best results. I ended up buying myself Fairy Liquid while at the supermarket the other day as it is the original and always seems like the best when it comes to washing up liquids. They do have quite a few scents in the range now but I like the original green bottle as it is the one I always grew up with.
