4 Stars A stylish small car Review with images 30/11/2009

Advantages Advantages Looks, general finish, equipment levels, colours, low running costs

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some cheap dash plastics, rear seats not comfy

In the 1970s Ford were producing the best selling cars in the UK, that was despite having only four models to offer, the Escort, Cortina, Capri & Consul/Granada. Their models were pretty conservative, rear wheel drive with a choice of two & four door saloons & estate cars except for the sporty Capri. They were modern looking, reasonable reliable, cheap to run & they held their value quite well. Ford could no wrong in the 1970s with a successful rally programme & a sporty image most car makers would die for, but there were problems ahead & they came from foreign countries. Companies such as ... more

Advantages Advantages Performance, running costs, style, comfort

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I bought a Ford Fiesta 1.6TDCi Zetec S in October 2006 from my local dealer. 2 years later I am still delighted with the purchase. Mine is Sea Grey, which suits the car shape and style perfectly and has full leather seats and heated front screen as extras. The heated screen was £100 option and has been worth every penny, especially in the winter months. In terms of perfromance there are no complaints. The car is a little sluggish in low revs 1st & 2nd gear compared to petrol but after 3000revs it has fantastic, big car power. The ride is comfortable at any speed and the car is at ease on ... more

Advantages Advantages Fuel Economy, Nippy, Very good handling, Build Quality, Price,

Disadvantages Disadvantages New model fiesta due end 2008, so poss depreciation increase

Bought a pre-reg 2008 57 plate with delivery miles for £9799. List of nearly 14k!!! would be a bit steep but a bargain at the price I paid! After vowing never to buy another ford 7 years ago, I test drove one of these and it was instantly sold to me. It was a three way split decision for me between this, a Seat Ibiza 1.4td ecomotive and the new 1.4d Mazda2. Seat had the fuel economy, good ride but cheap feel to the build. Mazda was fantastic ride, well built (it is on the new fiestas chassis) but underpowered. The Fiesta though, was surprisingly well built, very nippy, handled very well and ... more

Advantages Advantages Running costs; driving experience; nippy engine, sporty looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages The diesel engine noise is sometimes intrusive a low speeds

Being over 6 foot tall, I usually find it hard to get comfortable in the driving seat. Not so in this latest version. The half leather seats and steering wheel have plenty of adjustments to get that perfect driving position. The engine only puts out 89bhp but has loads of torque, which is great for in-gear acceleration and overtaking. At motorway cruising speeds the engine is refined and very flexible. Equipment The in-dash CD player is good and the radio reception is faultless. Air conditioning is a luxury I have not experience before in car ownership The split fold 60/40 rear seats are very ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap insurance and good fuel econemy.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Diesel and slow.

I have owned one of these for a little over 1 year now, and i have found the car a little dull yet a great little runner for my first car. The chasis is great because you take lots of sharp corners at high speed, if you can get this slow diesel up to anything classed as high speed. The Fuel econnemy is great, the way i drove it i was still managing 45mpg+. It was also a very moddifyable car, because there are plenty of after market parts for these cars. When done up look extremely nice, they are smart cars anyway so with a little imagination they could be GREAT!!! A picture would be provided ... more
