I have been a fan of the Grand Theft Auto Series since the first 3D version came out (Grand Theft Auto 3) on PlayStation 2, I remember buying it and spending a good week or two playing it none stop as I was simply addicted and I’ve never experienced such an interactive and open world game that could knock Mario World 64 out of my top favourite. I have prided myself in become a somewhat expert on all the PlayStation 2 versions of the game, I’ve completed them all multiple times and have been dreadfully close to completing them 100%. My heart did a flip off joy when I heard they were releasing a ... more

Advantages Advantages Wonderfully Detailed Environment - Unusual Cinematic Qualities

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pacing - Usual Control Issues

GTA IV's sense of timing is impeccable - perhaps somewhat ironic for a game which arrived six months overdue. Liberty City is an apt venue to exorcise Rockstar's creative ghosts, as this certainly feels like the game they wanted to ship back in 2001 - bringing to bear myriad ideas previously left on the cutting room floor due to timing and technological constraint. This pastiche of criminal life in New York City has greater subtlety, richness of content and self-assuredness; all leaving an impact which grows incrementally with each playing session. This GTA is important because it takes the ... more

GTA 4 Review History Grand theft auto was first introduced onto the PC platform in 1997. It was then introduced onto the popular console platform, 'Playstation,' a couple of months later. It was created by at the time a relatively unknown game company originating in Scotland named DMA designs. The name of the company then later changed to Rockstar and Rockstar North. Over the years there have been a number of sequels and add ons in the franchise. Below I have listed all of the games, beginning with the first and given a brief overview of the story. Grand Theft Auto was the first game that used ... more

Advantages Advantages Better game play, better graphics and cut scenes, city is amazingly detailed

Disadvantages Disadvantages Less featues than San Andreas

No game has ever made me take a weeks holiday from work on release week but this one. No game has ever had me queuing outside a store at midnight on release day (let alone the fact I'd been kickboxing training that day and was pretty tired and sore) but this one. To put it simply Grand Theft Auto IV when taken as a stand alone game is one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. You play Russian immigrant Nico Belic, a low level criminal looking to live the American Dream and also plotting revenge for a 'incident' in his past (I'll not go into this as it would spoil part of the story for ... more

Advantages Advantages Realism and an incredible display of voice acting.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Less comedy than previous GTA games.

Grand Theft Auto IV's creators, 'Rockstar Games' have been admired by millions of people world wide for a substancial amount of time. Their most famous, most successful achievment of the past 10years has undoubtedly been the 'Grand Theft Auto' series, in which gruesom reality reacts violently with a hilarious 'comedy' twist on modern and past-day life. I have to say that with this game, the comedy aspect has been grinded down considerably since the previous GTA, San Andreas. Rockstar Games have taken a much more realistic approach, which in my opinion wasn't a bad desicion. The realism really ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of achievements, lots of missions, multiplayer facilities (although very quiet now)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the best longevity.

The game This is your standard grand theft auto game really. You have to spend your time travelling around as a character, on foot or by car, taking part in missions, killing people, robbing people, generally just taking part in very naughty behaviour! In this game the character that you play is called Niko and you are basically someone who has travelled to work with their cousin who has fed you a load of lies about how successful he is and really is just running a two bit taxi firm! When left alone in the large city of Liberty City you need to find a way to earn some cash and there are ... more

Advantages Advantages GREAT GRAPHICS, GOOD PRICE

    Disadvantages Disadvantages RUBBISH ONLINE

This Grand theft auto really takes a step forward from the others, the graphics are amazing, if you look at the cars they have so much detail in unbelieveable and when you hit other cars the damage to the cars is much more realistic now and now if you damage the car to much the engine will cut off and when you accelerate it will just keep trying to turn the engine on which is quite cool. The way you walk and other pedestrians walk is much more realistic now too, the way you drive is more realistic its quite hard to get used to on the old games you could go round corners really fast but on this ... more

Advantages Advantages intresting story line-great gameplay-superb graphics-realistic sound

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I brought this game around four months ago and this was the first game i purchased with my 360. I was told by my mates that this was the must have game of 2008 and they were telling the truth. I always thought that The Gta series were top notch and were superb in acting quality and speech quality but Gta4 has absolutly blown me off my feet with amazing graphics, great acting-speech and lovable graphics, this definantly is the best Gta to date so far... Game play As soon as i got home i started up my 360 and played on Gta4 for at least 3 hours and after all that time i never got bored. Gta4 ... more

Advantages Advantages Great graphics, voice acting, physics, storyline

Disadvantages Disadvantages Multiplayer is full of kids, the hype wasnt lived up to, longevity is questionable

The latest title in Rockstar's sandbox car-jacking pedestrian-killing game, Grand Theft Auto IV uses a totally new game engine from the GTA III series of games. With much better physics, graphics and more variety of radio stations, the series truely is evolving. For quite a few missions you are given tutorials on how to do things in the game. This is good, but it does make the game feel rather short when you finish it. The side missions and "random people" you can meet are also a good feature that gives reason to explore around and drive a bit slower than a racing driver, but it has to be said ... more
