    5 Stars What A Taste! 20/07/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Taste, aftertaste and quality!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes rediculously priced!

I started drinking Guinness very recently and was at first laughed at by my mates for having such old man's taste! - But the thing is I've never seen Guinness as an old man's beer, I've always regarded it as an anyone's drink. So basically I carried on, and now it's pretty much all I drink when out of town. -TASTE- Allowing the beer to settle momentarily, you lift the glass to your bottom lip, break through the head and sip generously. A cool, rich, smooth liquid infiltrates your tongue and neck, slipping down effortlessly into the depths of your stomach. It cures your worries, deteriorates ... more

Advantages Advantages Smooth and very unique wonderful taste

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can take longer to recive in a bar as you need to wait a couple of mins for it to settle

I have tried Guinness at different parts of the world and it always seems to taste better in Ireland. In my opinion the head is very nice and creamy also its a very smooth head. The taste is quite a unique taste from and other alcohol based drinks and is always better to have on the draught rather than the can. I think the beast way to describe it is like cream and heaven. This is a very famous drink all around the world and did you know if you look closely at the drink it is actually very very dark red and not black. The smoothest stout about and i truly recommend this to everyone (18) of ... more

    Advantages Advantages Taste great

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

My parents used to socialize a lot while I was a kid and they often went out to a pub which had a great garden. They allowed me to taste the beer they drank and I didn't understand how they could drink such a bitter drink. I tried it only once and never again for further 12 years at least. I can clearly recall the first time I tried Guinness. I was slightly older than 18 and out in a special summer camp which was organised by students of the collage I wanted to study. The camp was about preparing us to the entrance exam and we studied really hard all day and went out to an Irish pub in the ... more

Advantages Advantages feeling of a pub pint, retains a nice head

Disadvantages Disadvantages tinny bitter aftertaste, not quite as good as the real thing or indeed the bottle

Normally as a fan of real ale I would go for the more premium bottles available in the supermarket but since I was in a rush and catering for more than just myself I decided to go for a 10x440ml pack of Guiness Draught Stout. Firstly, I have to mention the widget, obviously a 'draught' beer from a can should do exactly that, make the beer just as if you were getting it from a pub in Ireland. The widget works fine, giving the beer the right amount of gas (you don't want an overly fizzy Guiness) and leaving it with a nice thick creamy head. As for the taste, when compared to a pint of guiness ... more

Advantages Advantages Creamy, black, velvety goodness

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too many is bad for you!!!

I realise that Guinness is not everyone's idea of a refreshing tipple at the end of a hard day at work, but a pint or two of the black stuff is my idea of heaven. Guinness has an acquired taste. People either like it or they don't. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground. It is described as 'velvety' and if you get a good pint, thats exactly what it is like. The problem is that good pints are few and far between. Most bar staff don't know how to pull a pint properly, despite Guinness offering training. I judge pubs now on how good their Guinness is. Most important thing in my view for a good ... more

Advantages Advantages Great pint from the right pub, can be the center of even the most philosophical of exchanges

Disadvantages Disadvantages Your wallet, Your liver, Your Hangover

I sat down at my computer this morning with the objective of doing a few reviews. The only thing that springs to mind today is Guinness. Its 9:08 in the morning. But it's Arthur's Day... Yes, today celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the lease for the St James' Gate brewery in Dublin; where the magic happens. The marketing machine at Diageo has been running overtime for the past few months leading up to today and at 17:59 are asking you and all to raise a glass "to Arthur". Being Irish myself, I suggest that you should... Whilst culturally and historically both the the Guinness ... more

Advantages Advantages Tatste great and has real health benefits

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very easy to get a beer belly drinking this stuff

Guinness Living in Ireland I have very early childhood memories of male relatives supping on pints of Guinness. I always thought it was funny when they ended up with the Guinness moustache after their first drink and I even remember getting a few a myself (although I didn't drink the stuff back then). I first dabbled with Guinness when I started working in a bar. It was a real mans bar and everyone drank Guinness in some shape or another. Back then to be honest I didn't really like the stuff. It was very heavy and was almost like a meal in a glass. I also found I got drunk very quickly on and ... more

    Advantages Advantages tasty

Disadvantages Disadvantages dont drink too much

Theres a saying that "when you drink guinness draught, therefore you release the power in you" Its a drink for fun, when you want to take real quality drink, go out with friends and hang around in pubs or go to the night club and take this beer. Good quality beer. This beer is mostly associated with with the middle age group and its something everyone who loves dark beer will like. The bad side of this beer is that you dont have to drink too much because its having the day after effect which sucks real bad. So drink responsibly and you will be in the right mode the next day. The best thing ... more

Advantages Advantages Great tasting Guinness to enjoy at home

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not everyone likes the bitter aftertaste

The best tasting stout around from the unique and original house of Guiness: smooth creamy texture and slightly bitter aftertaste, which in my opinion makes Guinness unique and wonderful. The draught highlights the texture, not as good as freshly pulled, but a very good second best ! The best moment is when you pour, slowly tipping the dark contents into chilled glass ( i prefer my Guinness cool, even in winter) and admire the contents build from the bottom , clearly gently to leave a dark base and a white thick creamy head...delicious ! Packaging is very distinctive, part of the Guinness ... more

I dare say, that there will be a fair few pints of the black stuff drank today. St Patrick's day is all about getting together and having the craic! Celebrating that you are Irish, is what Irish people do best, and what is more Irish than Guinness? If you were to get around a table, and start sinking a few of these bad boys, then it is certain that the craic will flow, to be sure, to be sure. It is maybe not widely known in the community, that I am from Ireland. To be exact, from Newcastle, Co Down. A wonderful place, that Percy French once described as where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down ... more
