    Advantages Advantages cheaper than a skip, total cost less than £60

    Disadvantages Disadvantages you must keep the road clear between the bag and the truck,

    I used a midi hippo bag to clear out some rubble that the previous occupant had hidden behind a wooden barrier. I placed the on the path leading to my terraced house on a busy street. I was worried that they would consider my low fence a barrier but that was not an issue. One point you have to remember, is they will not lift the bag over a car. They will send you a text the day before hand if you ask so that you can put up a sign or something to stop people parking in front of your bag. They said they would collect "within 5 days" I would have preferred if they could have been a bit more ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Price for the mega bag was quite expensive.

    Over the Easter break I decided to demolish a typically normal small shed at the end of my garden (and replace it with a bigger one but that's a different story). I had to solve the problem of removing the waste once I had sledge hammered it to pieces and the local tip near me will not accept 'treated' wood. Plus transportation of the waste wood is limited to small loads in the car.. enter Hippo Bag. I've seen them in my local Wickes store and checked the Hippo Bag website to ensure that I was okay throwing the old shed in to the bag and good news, waste wood was not listed in the prohibited ... more

    I used a Hippo Bag about two month ago, the bag was removed by a third party as it was not collected for so long!, i called them up, stating it needed to go, but in the end i had to look about for someone else to do it! Every cloud has a silver lining as they say!, When it was removed, the waste carrier stated he collects bags in this area all the time, for barneybags i think he said. I bought one of these from Pompey Hardware in Fawcett Rd, on Monday just gone, it was £5.99 and had a flyer thing inside with all the info etc...I had to look at the website, and actually emailed regarding ... more

    I've had a hippo bag collected and felt that it warrants a good review. I bought my bag from Wickes and filled it with wood scraps and broken furniture. It has been collected this morning and I never even heard the lorry take it away. I booked my collection online on Thursday of last week and have to say that even the booking system is simple to use. A leaflet in Wickes prompted me to use the service which said if I book in my bag for collection before 31st May I could be in with a chance to win a day's spring clean for my home if I qouted bigclearout08 so that I did and fingers crossed that I ... more

    I have used the Hippo Bag and have to say that the service was superb. I bought the bag from B&Q and didn't finish filling the bag until two weeks later. I phoned to book in the collection and the call staff were really friendly and told me my bag would be collected in the next 5 working days. The bag was actually collected the following day whilst I was at work! I've receievd an email from the company stating that if I book another bag in before the end of November and quote spree07, they will enter me in for a competition to win a £500 shopping spree in Tesco.     Hippobags have saved me the hassle of hiring a skip. I am now on my third bag and I will use them again and again down to the great service I received. I found out about the Hippobag on the website www.hippowaste.co.uk I was a bit apprehensive at first but the website answered all my questions so I decided to buy a bag to find out for myself. The website even showed me where my local stockist was. I am extremely pleased with the overall service I have received. The good thing is that you can't hire a skip on a Sunday but you can buy a bag from B&Q if you decide to carry out a last minute ... more

    I've used the Hippobags a couple of times now and they are so easy to use. All I did was to buy the bag, filled it outside my house and phoned to have it collected. I didn't have the hassle of dealing with a skip company but the pleasure of dealing with the Hippo service!! I was a bit worried because i thought I had placed a little too much in the bag as it was overflowing. I wasn't at home when the driver arrived but he had taken the whole lot. I was so impressed! I have recommended that my mum use the service also as she is an elderly lady and there is no way I would let her deal with a skip ... more

    Just expressing my delight about the Hippobag!! I am a builder and have used the Hippobag quite a few times now. I have worked in many properties where access is quite difficult for the trucks, but no job seems too difficult for the drivers. I've even left a bag in a back garden and the truck even managed to lift it over the fence. Definitely worth giving the Hippobags a go!! I've recommend the bags to some of my friends in the trade and they too were very impressed. So much more convenient than using the bog standard skip. It is so handy as well as I can carry the bags which come flat packed ... more

    I've recently bought an old property which is very much in need of repair. The house has been unoccupied for months and the garden has been left full of junk. To start work on the house we needed to clear the garden to make space for access. There wasn't really enough waste to justify hiring a skip, so I searched the internet for an alternative and came across the Hippobag, which seemed like the ideal solution.     I bought the hippobag when my husband was fitting our new bathroom suite. We weren't sure how to dispose of the old suite as we don't have enough space for a skip. I came across the bag in B&Q for £13, they come in two sizes, midi and mega. I was amazed that the Megabag was big enough to take all of our old bathroom suite - bath, toilet, cabinets etc… We phoned Hippo to pay and arrange for the bag to be collected, this cost £54.
