Advantages Advantages Off Road, Easy to drive, ENGINE

Disadvantages Disadvantages Service, Interior is boring,.

The Land Rover Freelander is one of Land Rovers most popular cars of the last few years, and its understandable for my experiences. It’s a 2005 “55” plate facelifted Freelander. In black, which is without doubt one of the best colours- along with silver. My dad owned the TD4 Adventurer, but I drove it everywhere. It has a 1951CC Diesel Engine, which was virtually the same as you get in the 2.0D BMWs. Its an excellent engine, it pulls well upto 70mph and beyond where its safe to do so and has plenty of torque, it also makes a nice fruity sound and is without doubt (having test drove the other ... more

Advantages Advantages generaly a great car just dangerous to third parties!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages is this car safe to be on the road in its present condition?

i recently bought a new Freelander with the full body pack,,mistake! after just 3 months the front panel, below the grill disappeared while on a motorway journey, landrover dealership was not interested and suggested that I had hit something, well I decided not to argue and bought another which incidentally comes in grey plastic and had to be painted to suit cost £250.00 3 months late this piece flew off again! this time hitting the windshield of a passing lorry luckily enough he stayed on the road! again up till now landrover still not interested and suggested that I fitted it wrongly! its 2 ... more

Advantages Advantages Great work horse with a cavernous back

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor visibility when reversing horse trailer - especially to the left.

I have owned my 2.0d x reg Freelander diesel Commercial (van jobber) for 2 years had 80,000 on the clock when i got it and now has over 100,000. It had rather a lot wrong with it when i got it, all the usual problems but as hubby is in the trade it wasnt to bad to fix her up and as she is a van she was pretty cheap to buy. I have 3 horses so this is my vehicle to cater for their needs. The permanent 4 wheel drive has got me out of some sticky situations on icey lanes and i tow a trailer to horse shows, which in our climet are usually rainy and muddy and the Freelander tows through mud ... more

Advantages Advantages practicality,looks,td4 engine, electric rear window

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of 6th gear, needs a bit more go

ultra practical vehicle esp if you have a large German shepherd and a mentalist spaniel to cart around with you too! everything inside is wipe clean and the face lift interior is smart looking and durable too.the manual sunroof is handy although the clips to close it rattle a little.(a little oil helps tho)the air con is very strong cools the cab a treat.it should be noted that climate control isn't available on the freelander 1,just manual air con which doesn't particularly bother me. i like the sport spec as the exterior looks very nice with the big 18 wheels and the handling is surprising ... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant at what it does

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not cheap to run

I have owned two TDI freelanders for over 120,000 miles. I bought the first one March 1998. One of the very first. I have towed a caravan through deep mud and in snow. I have been traveling sideways in snow for fun and have driven around a tracked vehicle testing ground. My cars have been used to the limit including HDC in South Wales. The TDI Freelander is brilliant at what it does, though slow at motorway speeds. Its many anoying problems can get on your nerves though and the prices likewise. Anyone who says they get over 37 MPG is unwell and the drumming noise in the back is the rear ... more

1 Star Quick review of Land Rover Freelander TD4 by Tiggydaisy 12/10/2007
I bought a Freelander TD4 - Serengeti - Automatic diesel from new in 2003. On October 9th 2007 - the car shuddered and lost power. I managed to get it onto the hard shoulder of the M25. This car has been nursed from new. Serviced regularly. My garage have just told me it needs a new engine. Unbelievable. I don't think I can recommend this car and if anyone knows of anything like this to anyone elses TD4 let me know. Thank you - I'm gutted.

Advantages Advantages quite economcial, very comfortable, loaded with equipment

    Disadvantages Disadvantages nothing yet

This is the first 4x4 I have owned. The other cars on my drive are Japanese import sports cars which are low and very very fast. This is to some extent the complete opposite but is a wonderful experience. Our car was delivered in shining black with a black leather interior with .4 of a mile on the clock. Looks The car looks bigger than it actually is. It has a strong resemblance to its Range Rover big brother. It is lengthwise about the same size as the car it replaces for us, a Peugeot 407. But its height and rugged looks make it look a far bigger proposition though. The car has some tasteful ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Land Rover Freelander TD4 by Buddynz 04/09/2007
I have had a 2002 Freelander TD4 5 door for 2 years. This is a fantastic vehicle for general use especially if you are sporty. Solid towbar mount means great for bike carriers and electric rear window and roof are great in the summer when driving along. Only mechanical issue has been contaminated diesel and repairs were paid for by fuel company. These are solid and drive very well. Only problem is trying to find something better if you ever feel like a change!! Recommended

Advantages Advantages Great all round work horse with plenty of space

Disadvantages Disadvantages none that I have found yet

I have owned a 3 door TD4 for 2 years from new. It is great to drive in all weathers and a neat trick is being able to open the tail gate window and sunroof to get a through draft instead of putting on the A/C. However, one irritation is that the rear window can not be closed without the electrics on, but will open on the key remote control. (I am forever forgetting to close the rear window before I switch the engine off.) The Landrover dealership has been excellent and their staff are a credit, but they are not cheap. The car is a work horse and is used for towing a trailer as well as taking ... more

The simple answer is no!! I get very angry when I hear this car being slated on TV by presenters & in car programmes. We have had ours for over a year now & I tell you what, there have been no problems. I got the car from my hubby, because he got a company car. So my beloved Bubble (2002 Corsa) was sold so that I can drive the beast!! I was very scared of it the first day & to tell you the truth I thought it was a 'mad car' when it came to driving it. I'm a small person (in weight & in height). But I tell you what, it is a great vehichle to drive. It has all round leather, 6 cd changed, great ... more
