    Hi Everyone, I joined the mom's club just few months back. I am blessed with a baby boy. He made me to stay in hospital for 3 days by not taking my breast. He just kept on crying when I try to take him to my breast. By no other go, we started feeding him top ups. After 3 days when he finally started to take breast milk, he started to feel its not sufficient. After every feed, he will start to cry immediately. I spoke about this to my midwives and I was told that a mom will have enough milk for their baby. And I was advised to stop bottle feeding completely so that he takes enough from me ... more

    Advantages Advantages breastfeeding can be healthier

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not to everyones personal tastes

    I'm 36 weeks pregnant and know for certain that I won't be breastfeeding. I understand that it may be healthier for the baby but it is proven that most formula milks are equally good. I don't like the idea of breastfeeding or of being caught short whilst in public, I also feel that it is unfair on my partner as he would like to be able to just feed our daughter without having to wait for me to express, there is also a partly selfish element as I know a lot of people who have breastfed and it has ruined their breasts, I don't want this happening as I am young.     Advantages Advantages Free, easy, promotes bonding and is said to be the healthiest feeding choice.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be difficult to have the courage to feed baby in public

    BREAST MILK IS FREE! I am completely in favour of breastfeeding and have breast fed all four of my children. However, I in no way, wish to say that it is the right choice for everyone. I breast fed because I wanted to and not because anyone told me to. In fact there weren't many in my family or my circle of friends who chose to breastfeed at this time.     Breastfeeding When I was pregnant I had just thought I would definitely not try to breastfeed my daughter. Someone I knew had breastfeed her son everywhere (in restaurants and all while other members where eating) and I admired her for this but at the same time I was incredibly embarrassed by the whole situation.     It had never even crossed my mind that I was going to feed Freddy myself, in fact all through my pregnancy I was adamant that I wasn’t. I’d had a terrible experience of trying to breastfeed my eldest eighteen years ago, which had left me determined that I was never going to put myself through that trauma again. So why now am I feeling so sad that I couldn’t keep up with Freddy’s demands, was advised to top him up and am now only giving him one feed a day?     I'm a man, what do I know about breastfeeding, right? Well, as a father of two kids who were both breast fed by my wife I know my bit. All I know is my children are well and healthy and I put at least of that down to breastfeeding. Yes, mother needs to be with a child most of the time, drinking alcohol is out of the question and whatever she eats gets passed onto the baby (eat a curry and a child will have winds next day :), but all there are far outweighed by advantages.     I have decided to give an account of my own experience of breastfeeding, to reassure a lot of people out there that it's not always really bad! When I became pregnant for the first time I wasn't sure whether to go for breast or bottle. I didn't know whether I would like the feeling of feeding my child; I had also married into a complete bottle feeding family who knew nothing about breastfeeding, and they were very concerned about my husband and whether he would be able to bond with the baby if he couldn't bottle feed it...     March 2004 and I find out that we (myself and my husband) are expecting our first baby, we were thrilled and did about 5 pregnancy tests just to make sure. All the way through my pregnancy I had heard that Breast was best, not only for your baby but for you aswell, (reduces the risk of some breast and ovarian cancers, loose baby weight quicker). I had my mother and grandmother sharing their views and opinions, let alone the midwifes explaining all the advantages. They forget to mention the negatives.
