Mercedes E 220 CDI

i had this car for 3 years overall this is a good and great car for the money but a little to expensive when you bye it from new. but when your are going to sell it again you get a good price for it, i personaly lost 40.000dollars there is no complains twat so ever its just a little slow in accelaration. the fuel consumption is very good bucause its not so big a engine and but its a little heavy to drive i wish i hat the money to bye it with a bigger engine at that time maybee the e320 with the v6 with 224 hp or the e420 with the v8 with 318 hp. in this car get a good value for your money and ... more

Stumbled across a single review of this vehicle which struck me as too eulogistic to be of much use. I live in Europe where attitudes to Mercedes products are less reverential and have had a manual transmission E220 CDi since Oct.2003 (which I'd like to sell). This model with 150 bhp/340nm. has effectively been superceded since July 2006 by a revised model with 170bhp and approx 400nm. and which among some 2000 changes has done away with the brake by wire system and probably other curiosities as well. What can I say? My second Mercedes and now 2 years old and NOTHING has ever gone wrong with it. It has ample room for 5 large adults to travel in luxury and still returns a steady 39 mpg average peaking at 47 mpg on a run. Don't let anyone tell you the 2.2 diesel is unrefined - it will haul the car along without complaining in any way at all. Most passengers don't even realise it's a diesel. For me this is the best car I've ever run and long may it remain.
