    Advantages Advantages 7 Seats

Disadvantages Disadvantages Now has been replaced by new model.

Comfortable good looking off roader from Mercedes-Benz that is also available with seven seats. Now has been replaced by an all new Mercedes ML model so the prices on these has come down over the last few years. Avoid pre-1999 models as these were badly put together in the US. Most sought after are the 2002 onwards cars as these had a better finish and items such as climate control instead of just air conditioning. Also avoild petrol engines as these are very thirsty but does mean that they can be picked up for a good price in comparison to the diesel variant. Automatic is the gearbox to have ... more

i have had to give up my xj6 sport as my disabled wife can no longer fold herself low enough to get in, so we needed something bigger than her zafira motability car. we have bought a 2003 ml 270 cdi 7 seater from an independent jaguar dealer in sussex wow!! a great looking car in dark blue, not a mark on it, lovely to drive, has only done 53K, full service history. our german shephard can climb in easily although she prefers the comfortable back seats to be next to mum. my wife, who normally thinks a car is a box to travel from one place to another has fallen in love with it, especially with a ... more

Advantages Advantages High luxury with 5 star safety

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Car taxing penalty

I have a Mercedes ML 270 cdi and I cant praise it enough. I have had a Range Rover and a Freelander in the past and deffinately will never change from Mercedes now. It is fabulous to drive, comfortable and even with only a 270 engine as opposed to the more powerful ones it pulls my horses fine. It gives the luxury of an upper class car but the security of a 4x4 with the reliability of German manufactoring. We have found a brilliant mercedes trained garage to service it and can honestly say that the running costs are half what it cost us when we owned the Land Rovers. It is Mercedes every time ... more

    Advantages Advantages Looks flash.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Just about everything

This is a nice car. It\'s a Mercedes- it\'s a 4X4. It\'s shiny. Being an automatic, the handling is much easier and driving is almost a relaxing experience in this motor. It has heated seats, cupholders and every other mod con imaginable. That's where it ends. Visibilty out of the vehicle is limited compared to other models and other cars. Unless you're very used to driving a 4x4, this can make manouveres extremely difficult, almost like guesswork in some cases. The only thing that it seems to be lacking are the sensors which beep when you get too close to something. There's no chance you can ... more

    Advantages Advantages Strudy and flash,

Disadvantages Disadvantages Terrible bumpy ride, unreliable and expensive to run

This review is a year or two old but then so is the 270, replaced by the 320. I am not really a 4X4 fan as I see no use for them but when giving one to drive for nothing, like any car, it is a different story. Longer than my normal review but have added some key skimmer lines at the end to save you reading it all as long reviews are boring really. ML270 CDI This car was possibly the best 4x4 I have had the honour to drive right up until she became obsolete and replaced by my current car, the ML320 CDI. Never having really been a fan of the 4X4. Chelsea Taxi/Sloane Rangers Horse/Desperate ... more

    Advantages Advantages Interior space

    Disadvantages Disadvantages everything else!

Although I don't own one of these I do use one at work week in week out (52 plate) but only when they're aren't any other cars available to use. I've got to say it is one of the worst cars I have ever driven. Sure they don't look bad on the road and interior space isn't bad but apart from that I don't really have anything positive to say about it. Starting with the interior . . . . . The driving position is terrible in it and you can only alter the steering up and down not in and out. At six foot two I can't get the seat far enough back to able me to comfortably use the pedals either which is ... more

Advantages Advantages Safety, 7 seater option, spacious

Disadvantages Disadvantages Fuel consumption, insurance problems, basic inside, costs

We have had this car for 3 months, previously owning a Citroen Picasso, and purchased it because we needed the extra seats with the 7-seater option. We have three small children (all under 7) and, so far, I am in love with it. Yes, it is very thirsty on fuel and the servicing costs are somewhat of a shock, but it is worth it. There is not much leg room when all the 7 seats are used but the third row are more than OK for the kids or a small adult. And when the thirds row of seats are folded up the boot space is still really big. I am a little bit dissappointed about the luxuriousness of the ... more

I have recently bought my Mercedes ML 270 Cdi. on a 52 plate after trawling the market place for a BMW X5. My missus spotted this machine and we havent looked back. The beast (I mean that in a loving term) has less than average miles, and is in metallic black, with chrome A Bar and Chrome sidesteps. STUNNING. And with all the Kudos of Merc and as many additions as an X5, i am more than happy with my purchase. It looks, drives and feels superb. I have a wife & 2 Kids, both in safety seats and 1 large german Shepherd doggy, and all are of the same opinion as me, this is one of the most ... more

Advantages Advantages A car you feel you can go anywhere in the ML 270cdi

Disadvantages Disadvantages Brake pad and disk wear.

Truly a car you feel you can go anywhere in the ML 270cdi great to drive and very comfortable even with 7 passengers in place. Very good in town and on Motorway. Beware petrol models are very very heavy on petrol. The ML is shorter than our E class Saloon and the E class Estate so Parktronic is a useful extra but not essential. The 270Cdi Diesel engine is surprisingly powerful with lots of torque and good economy similar to the mpg we get from our E200 auto 2ltr saloon. Very easy to drive in town we live in central London the higher seating position improves visibility dramatically in town and ... more

Advantages Advantages Driving Position, Reliability, Comfort, Service

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no, not really......

I am on my 3rd ML270CDi, the latest being an '03 with every toy imaginable......they are a simply excellent drive. you have to bear in mind this is a "two ton truck" with a diesel engine, so rapid it is not - however - for a "two ton truck" it is surprisingly nippy and enjoyable to drive. If you make good use of the revs and hold gears, it will perform well. For fast standing starts I offer one tip, hold the brake hard, rev it hard to get the turbo at full pressure and the truck takes off with startling power.....Its only fault is that sometimes you want a quick start from lights or at a ... more
