1 Star Quick review of National Tyres by Krieghoff 15/01/2008
I purchased two tyres for my 80 year old father via Tyre Shopper for £40x2 = £80. These were supplied and fitted by National Tyres, when he arrived at the fitting centre National Tyres told him he needed two additional tyres, for which they charged him £144 this included unwanted tyre guarantees. National Tyres follow the Hard Sales approach and do not have much in the way of supporting any ethical policy in their selling methods. I would use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone.

Advantages Advantages Friendly staff, immediate work

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, inexperienced staff, doesn't seem to like sticking to estminates

Not good I'm afraid. Upon taking my car in to fix a break issue, which turned out to be the ABS, the Cardiff - Penarth Road branch of National misdiagnosed the problem on 3 times (much to my expense) in the end making it slightly worse. The staff were usually polite, however seemed to lack expertise in what they were trying to fix. Seeing them working on my car with a 'Brakes - a training guide' book with them did make me nervous. As well as this they struggled to stick to estimates. I was told 'roughly' £150 for the initial work which when exactly worked out turned into £161, fair enough I ... more

My mate tried to find some tyres the other day for his Peugeot 307cc He was after some Dunlop SP3000's (205 55 R16). He needed two tyres and after ringing a place local to him in Bristol called Ablefit he got a quote for £55 each. My friend then decided to ring National tyres (because it was nearer to him) and got a quote for £58.50 . My friend then mentioned the price promise National Tyres were promising, the promise basically promises to beat any other supplier and refund a pound to the customer if the offer somewhere else is better. The operator told my friend that was the best price he ... more

I drive a diesel ford focus and do over the average number of miles, therefore I change my tyres on a regular basis. Being a diesel and being heavier on the front end the fron tyres go quicker then the back, when I say go I mean lose the tread. This is no fault of the car I change them about every 14 months which isnt to bad, I never realy invest in the named brand like pirelli. michelin, or bridgestone. I usually buy the average make not budget tyres the ones made by the above companies but without the brand name. The tyres in most places are classed as budget tyres medium cost or brand tyres ... more
