Absolutely love the way Michael Palin writes his books. Not only is his as honest as possible about the situations that he finds himself in, but also his comedy back ground creeps in on many occassions. Michael Palin starts this journey in Slovenia and makes his way through many of the now old Eastern Bloc countries. I've always been a Michael Palin fan. I'd watched Around the world in 80 days, Pole to pole, and Sahara. This book accompanies the more recent series, New Europe. The thinking behind New Europe was that of all the continents Michael Palin had visited, Europe was the one he had explored the least. With countries in Eastern Europe joining the EU, it would therefore be useful and interesting for him to find out more about these countries and the people who live there.
