5 Stars Possibly the best hand held console Review with images 16/08/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Sleek and stylish, vast amount of games, great fun to play, wi-fi enabled

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the best graphics and audio of the hand helds, still expensive

The Nintendo DS Lite The Nintendo DS Lite (“NDSL”) was released in the UK in June 2006 as a replacement for the Nintendo DS (“NDS”). The NDSL is approximately 39% smaller and 21% lighter than its predecessor, however the signatory dual screen remains the same size, which is some feat. In order to put this reduction in to perspective I have included the dimensions and weight of the NDSL in a ‘technical specs’ section at the end of this review. In order to reduce the size and keep the same screen size some changes had to be made to the NDSL, but they are purely cosmetic and do not interfere with ... more

5 Stars NINTENDO DS LITE - PERFECT FOR ALL AGES Review with images 26/09/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Perfect for all ages and very easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me

Whilst I would occasionally play games on my husband’s X Box, I had never had any burning desire to personally own any type of games console; that is until not long after the introduction of the Nintendo DS Lite. My gadget mad younger sister purchased her console within days of its’ release and continually nagged me to buy one. I resisted for a considerable time as in my opinion, it would be another impulse purchase that would get pushed to the back of one of my drawers and eventually car booted! However, my opinion soon changed when she brought her console to my home and challenged me to play ... more

5 Stars I Love it! Review with images 02/06/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, good range of games, sturdy

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be addictive

I’ve had my Nintendo DS Lite for what seems like forever; but surely it can’t be that long ago that my husband so kindly bought it (along with Scrabble and Braintraining) so I could entertain myself whilst stuck in hospital pregnant with my second daughter. A few calculations later and I’ve worked out that I must have had this for 3 years at least. This surprises me because I’m sure he paid around the £100 mark; and to my horror they are still selling for the same price, despite various upgrades and newer models! This tells me it must be a great console that people just love, well I certainly ... more

5 Stars Touch Me Review with images 21/06/2007
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Long battery life, great choice of games available, multiplayer capabilities are endless

Disadvantages Disadvantages Big handed people might suffer from their hands cramping, Wi-Fi access can be tricky

Seeing as both the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP came out at roughly the same time, and therefore seen as rival next-gen handheld consoles, I thought it would be appropriate to tell a little story. I watched a live instalment of a regularly broadcasted show on Gamespot.com recently. Now although the whole thing is presented by a bunch of middle-aged nerds, the material is always focused on the latest up and coming stuff from the gaming industry. One of the segments involved the dullest individual I have ever had the misfortune to listen to for fifteen minutes. He was a publicity rep from Sony ... more

5 Stars Second times a charm nintendo! Review with images 15/07/2007
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages great new design

    Disadvantages Disadvantages possibly limited features?

The Nintendo DS lite looks great plays better! the DS will be hitting UK streets on the 23rd of June in either black or white finish. When the original DS was launched people expected great things me being one of them I had worked pretty much all year for this thing but when I had it, I couldn’t help but thing there was something wrong with it. However a true blue Nintendo fan such as myself was still not put of, almost! Then it hit me this is not practical and very bulky to hold Nintendo kind of messed up here. After the popularity of the DS dropped Nintendo had to do something to save the ... more

5 Stars A Console You Can Fit In Your Handbag Review with images 15/11/2008
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Portable, massive range of games, durable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Playing can be addictive!

The Console The DS lite offers a portable gaming experience using two screens, the top screen simply allows you to watch graphics and text while the bottom screen is touch sensitive using the stylus provided. Most games use the touch screen for play but some also utilise the buttons. The layout is simple, uncluttered and easy to use. I could never play systems such as the PS2 as I found having to coordinate loads of buttons was too difficult but I play with ease on my DS. The DS is backwards compatible allowing Game Boy Advance games to be played. The GBA gaming slot can be covered when not in ... more

hi all, well the Nintendo ds for me has been great. let me tell you a little bit about my experience. i had been after one of these for ages but as per, it was too pricey but after a few months i managed to get my hands on one. now the one i bought was at the price of 125.00 from Argos which i thought was quite reasonable. with mine it was a starter pack so there for got a game with it. you can choose from a very wide variety of colours i chose pink (ye ye in know!!) but you can get loads of others. i.e black, white, red, blue, green, orange, yellow and gold i think not 100% on the gold but ... more

5 Stars THE NINTENDO DS....A CONSOLE FOR ALL AGES Review with images 12/10/2007
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages GREAT GAMES...TOUCH SCREEN...SMALL SIZE

    Disadvantages Disadvantages NONE

I brought the Nintendo ds lite over a year ago now, I brought the lite instead of the original simply because it looked better and weighed better. Usually the ds is aimed mainly at children, but as I am no child I find that it caters for my gaming needs very well. This review will highlight the highs and lows (of which there aren't many) of the Nintendo ds, and why I would recommend it to potential buyers either for themselves, or their children. The Nintendo ds lite is entertainment galore. It boasts numerous features that have enabled it to compete with Sony's psp. Firstly the size of the ds ... more

5 Stars Nintendo DS Lite : 'Flipping Brilliant' Review with images 10/01/2008
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Wide range of games, cheaper than consoles, portable and light weight.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cannot play films, store or play music on the DS unlike the Sony PSP console

The Nintendo DS Lite is a portable gaming system with two screens that have been vertically alligned, one at the top and one at the bottom. On the bottom is a touch screen that allows you to use a stylus pen for selecting options to playing games. There's also the standard direction buttons, located to the left of the bottom screen, and standard X, Y, A, B buttons along with Start and Select Buttons- all of which are located to the right of the bottom screen,. The Nintendo DS games come on a cartridge format and cost anything between £10-£25. The main advantage of the Nintendo DS Games over ... more

5 Stars Nintendo DS Lite is good all round fun - Review with images 13/01/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Wider, Brighter Screen, GBA Compatibility

Disadvantages Disadvantages Will not play music & no SD card slot

ABOUT THE DS LITE The Nintendo DS Lite is the "little" brother to the original DS console, which I have also owned. In my opinion the original DS was good but this lighter more compact version certainly makes my old DS look fat and ugly. The DS Lite is not only lighter but it better in every aspect possible, e.g graphics, game quality, features. Gaming is a breeze on this console and makes playing games or working out your brain even easier for all ages with it's simple controls. The screen is also better than the original DS console as it is bigger and brighter making game play more realistic ... more
