Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive, Dated, Pointless rival to the Xbox, Clammy hands!

Goodness! This review that I am about to write makes me feel slightly old! It was back in 2006 the Nintendo Wii came out. I cannot believe we are now in 2012 (almost)! I remember the day the Wii came out- because at the time we were shopping in Asda- I actually had no intention of buying this console seeing as I already have the Xbox 360 and the older PS2. However I had heard allot of great feedback on the Wii seeing as it was cutting edge at the time of launch as the console was meant to encourage active play- so out came a handful of notes and in return we received the Wii with the Wii fit ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can make grown men cry

The Nintendo Wii, we’ve heard all the jokes and puns about the name and Nintendo’s explanation to justify the name despite the criticisms, but if we’re honest it is a truly awful name. It is like expecting to call your son Edith, and then explaining it to your son’s primary school class mates why you did it, hoping that it would not get your son bullied. Oh yes it would, and in fact it would make it worse. I have always respected Nintendo as they are always trying to release systems that stir the imagination of what could be possible in the world of gaming. Check out the Game Boy and its non ... more

One evening in November my rapidly approaching 3 year old daughter ventured into the conservatory where I was playing Outrun on the PS2. She said “Daddy, let me have a go”. Despite the controller being too big for her delicate hands, she picked up with ease, the controls for acceleration and braking. However, for steering the car, her immediate, natural instinct was to turn the controller, rather than press the directional keys. That is how she wanted to control the car. I wondered then how good a control system like that really could be. Picking up the latest release of T3 later that night ... more

Advantages Advantages A great idea, you can make your own avatar to see on the homepage

Disadvantages Disadvantages Xbox Kinect is the same, making the Xbox 360 a better console

Okay so the Wii has been out for some time now, initially I thought wow this is a console offering something a bit different, something a bit out of the ordinary. Then I tried it at my friend's house... OH DEAR. I was bored of it after about two hours of non stop playing. Then again we were only playing the Wii game that came with the console - Wii Sports. As far as I know, Nintendo Wiis are still above the 150 pounds mark, which surprises me, they've been out a good few years now and both the PS3 and Xbox 360 have reduced in price and I expccted the Wii to follow in suit. Me and my brother ... more

Advantages Advantages impressive technology and graphics

Disadvantages Disadvantages most games a very poor, expensive

The Nintendo Wii is a hugely successful gaming console, and much has been made of its controller, which is motion sensitive and allows four players to control the on-screen reaction by swinging the controller about in mid-air in one hand. Personally I think this is something of a gimmick, but I have to admit that as far as gimmicks go its certainly a hugely successful one. The Wii motion controller allows players to swing virtual baseball bats, play golf, bowl bowling balls, swing virtual swords at opponents and myriad other uses (the Wii conversion of Mel Gibson's 'Passion of The Christ' film ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of games, Portable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor Games, Bad Graphics and sound

NINTENDO WII The Nintendo Wii isn't what it seems. Nintendo have many devout fans but with the Wii it has been the people who previously played the XBOX or PLAYSTATION 2 that have bought it. Much of this is because of the cost. At deals of around 150-£200 it is almost half as cheap as the PS3 but I think that it is less than half as good as the PS3 and possibly even the XBOX 360. The Wii is probably the most dominant in the games world because so many people have bought it however, most people who own a Wii also have another console or otherwise don't use it. Graphics and Sound The graphics on ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good for families

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor graphics, poor games, limited gameplay

Let me start off by saying that I think the Wii is a great idea. This is probably the only console in the market that genuinely is tailor-made for families; the 360 and the PS3 are, admittedly, primarily adult-orientated games devices and the Wii caters for a largely untappd market. On the Wii, the vast majority of games available really are aimed at children and families in general. It's the most universal games machine out there and it is great fun for parties. On the Wii, we all know its unique selling point is the motion sensor aspect, the fact that you can use the ultra-responsive and all ... more

Advantages Advantages PS3 SEEMS TO HAVE EVERYTHING THE WILL HAS, CHEEPER THAN THE PS3

    Disadvantages Disadvantages CANT WATCH DVDS,

What’s better a wii or a playstation3?!??! Well a playstation 3 has the best graphic and sound system out of all the consoles however a Nintendo wii is a total new way of playing games. You have to move around and it is a lot more interactive than the pa3. You have to a they say "get into the game" literally. Along with the systems itself the costs are quite different. The ps3 comes with a hefty tag of £425 here in the UK. however it can be found at a lot cheaper prices for instance on eBay or a drop shipping website which I got mine off of for only £317. The wii is only £125 and includes the ... more

Advantages Advantages Clever, redesigned gaming, good way to keep fit

Disadvantages Disadvantages Terrible graphics, gets really boring and has barely any features.

Wii is good for kids. Considering the majority of games are for small children, or just very immature people. There are very few games that I can find on the wii that i'd actually enjoy at my age. The idea of this console is fitness, you don't really do much moving about except on Wii Fit and Wii Sports. The rest is just sitting down treating your Wii-mote as a standard controller. That's disappointing, right? Wii becomes very boring quickly. I could play on my PS3 for hours if I had a good game, this, I can play on for about 30 minutes then I just trail back to a much better console. This is ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good first impressions

Disadvantages Disadvantages Graphics, Price, Simple gameplay

Having successfully managed to find one, I was terribly excited just to take it home and get it all wired up. My first game was Baseball, and have to say became quite bored after about an hour of playing. It just didn't have that old-school effect on me as the Xbox and Playstation did. In my opinion, Nintendo were desperate for market domination once again, so designed a games console that would be a huge step further than the other market rivals. The truth being is that they concentrated too much on the simulator control, and forgot other important things such as Graphics and exciting game ... more
