    Warning to you all out their I have just been mugged by an insurance company called Norwich Union Direct/ Aviv a. When in a non fault situation i.e. the accident is not caused by you do not let go of the hire car until the last penny of the settlement figure has cleared into your bank account otherwise you may never get what is owed to.you..and yes I am taking them to court... They send cheques with the wrong names on to delay settlement. they are ignorant and rarely answer the phone. They have left a dangerous vehicle outside my mothers house(79 year old arthritic with severe memory problems) ... more

    They're obviously not out to win friends and influence people.My first claim in 24 years on my house insurance-worth only 81.00 but I didn't know that or I wouldn't have claimed.They have now slapped a 300.00 excess on my policy.Guess who's moving?

    Absolutely useless! I've been chasing a claim on my brother's car insurance for nearly a year now. My brother has been seriously ill since January since when I have taken over his financial affairs. He began his claim on 1st November 2007 after his car was stolen on 31st October 2007 during the night and set on fire. He did not realize it was missing until the next morning when at which point he phoned the police to be told they were about to phone him as they had found it burnt out. We have tried phoning NUD over and over again and even been given a special contact number... but we only ever ... more

    my car was stolen in oct07, i rang up and gave all the correct info even the police officers name number who had found the car burnt out, After a few week i rang again and was told they was dealing with the claim. A settlment was agreed in dec07 has my car was on finance they said the cheque would go to the finace company no problems there. Feb 08 i rang again to find out what was happening was told by 25/2/08 it would all be complete. As i am writing this 7/3/08 it has still to be sorted ... more

    I have just tried contacting Norwich Union for a change of car, I am picking the car up in about one hour and need to sort the insurance. The automated system asks you to put in a number for the help desk you require, well yes frustrating enough but all it does is keep repeating and asking me to put a number in and it is not directing me to that help desk to change my policy. Ok so now I have canceled my policy and gone with another insurance provider / broker on my high street, I can now see ... more

    We have both our house and car insurance with Norwich Union and have had for about 10 years. I will not renew again. When you call to take out a new policy your call will be answered very quickly by staff within a UK based call centre. The line is clear and the service is great. When you call to make a claim or enquire about an existing policy you are met with a menu leading to another menu and, in most cases, a third menu. Once you have finally negotiated the menus you will be in a queue. I have been queuing several times. The smallest queue was 13 minutes, the longest 48 minutes. The average ... more

    Norwich Union...... It all started when my nextdoor neighbour reversed his caravan into the side of my garage in July 2006 showing no immediate signs of damage,but when it rained in Sept 2006 rain water started gushing in from when the old fool had hit the garage. I contacted NU and they sent out a carpet cleaner to clean up the rainwater for what reason bemuses me so I told him not to bother as next time it rained once again garage flooded.     Norwich Union cheated me out of my fathers life insurance. They cocked up hid DD, he sent a check to make up the deficit which they cashed. 1 week after his death they sent back the money in the form of a company check and refused to pay up. They are immoral and unhelpful, i wish nothing but bad things for the company, their directors and all of their employees.

    I echo the very poor service from Norwich Union. Our car was stolen and recovered but had some damage. We rang the claims dept and they said they wanted to use a repairer that was not local to us. We initially said no as we could not get to it in office hours (they were only open 9-5, Mon to Fri), but agreed when we were told that the car would be picked up, repaired and delivered back. A week later the company that recovered the car rang us to see why it had not been collected and we had to chase NU who seemed unable to answer phone calls.     Did not renew our policy with FORD INSURE but they took a direct debit payment out of my bank with out our permision, i got the payment stopped, then later we got a bill for £72.OO?, when we contacted ford insure,they said becauce we did not notify them to cancel the policy, they automaticaly take out the money. So now we have to pay a FIFTY+ POUND CANCELATION FEE, and twenty+pounds for seventeen days cover. We took out another policy with another company, so we had two policies running for seventeen days for the same car, till we cancelled the ford ... more
