    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor customer service, little empathy for those they insure.

    A car insurance review, I bet your excited already I know I am. Nevertheless, I thought I would share my experience of Norwich Union Direct and let you Johnny Consumer know what is good and bad about this particular company. For those, like me, who struggle with the terminology I have included a guide to insurers lingo at the end of my review.     At this time of writing I would challenge anybody to find me a cheaper car insurer for the same cover!!! Norwich Union Direct is by far the best for both service and price.     I received a leaflet through the post, about Norwich Union Direct, and because my Motor Insurance was up for renewal at that time, I decided to give them a call. The sales person on the other end of the phone was polite, very informative and friendly. I was given a quotation which was considerably lower than any other company and told that it was valid for 60 days. I was given a reference number to quote if I was to go ahead with this policy and a FreeFone Number to ring.     This has to be one of the cheapest and most efficient car insurance companies going. Over the last week I have tried all the top names and over 50 other companies, the quotes I were given varied and ranged from £800-£1400 for third party insurance which covers fire and theft for me and my twin sister, so two relatively inexperienced drivers.     In the old days the old creaking giant Norwich Union had a bit of poor reputation with a lot of bikers, mainly due to their rather high premiums and hassles trying to get any money out of them when your bike goes walkies. These days, now that bikes are fashionable again and selling in relatively large numbers, NU have cottoned on to the fact that they have to be a little more personable to encourage more custom with so much competition flying around.     After being with Budget insurance for quite a few years and being RIPPED OFF !!!! I moved to Norwhich Insurance. Tehy were very polite and the Quote was outstanding. We literally halfed our insurance policy and this was by doing it by Direct Debit. I have only claimed once from them and that was when my windscreen was smashed by someone. I telephoned them and they organised for an Autoglass block to come out. He arrived in about an hour. What a service.     I have only been driving a few years, but had set a record of changing Insurance companies every time my renewal came around as I always found a better quote. Except this time! Last year, Norwich Union Direct offered me the best quote by over £80. This year, my car has been given a few modifications (enough to make a lot of insurers not want to touch me) maily on engine and suspension. I was getting really bad quotes from most insurers, and a lot of "sorry we don't cover modified vehicles" so I assumed that I was going to have to switch to a dedicated performance insurer.     As a young learner driver and student I knew that my insurance was going to be high, but I wasn't prepared for the £2000(!) quote that budget gave me! I shopped around on the Internet and went through loads and loads of companies (see below for a list of websites) and they were all too high (but not as high as budget), and then I came across Norwich Union.     When I first completed my driving test I was overly joyed. All I wanted to do was buy a car and get on the road. However, my bubble was son burst when I realised that every where was quoting me £1500 - £2000 for a G reg Fiesta. I had tried every company possible when I came across Norwich Union Direct.     WOW, im 19 been driving for 2 years, just brought a new car and went to insure it. The car is a peugeot 307 1.4 16v, nothing special! until you go to insure it. Norwich union was the last company i tried and they amazed me. I, like many people rang around every company i could to get the cheapest quote.
