4 Stars The Truth Behind the Good Old Henry Vac! Review with images 03/06/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Cheap price & maintenance, large dust bags, great suction, well made, robust, large hose

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lacks user friendly labour saving features; difficult to store or park during tasks, topples over.

In a world determined by power these days, the consumer has been forced to adopt the belief that the higher the power a machine has, the better it is. Miele bitched and moaned that Dyson couldn’t be any more powerful given that their product lines had 300 to 400 watts more power, yet performance wise, Dyson’s original DC01 and later model DC02 seemed to excel everything in its path when it came to optimum suction and performance. Nothing much has changed 15 to 20 years later with Dyson vying for number 1 spot for the more modern vacuum cleaner - but at the expensive prices, it can be hard for ... more

Advantages Advantages So simple to use, great power for its size and quite adorable for a vacuum cleaner

Disadvantages Disadvantages No way of knowing if bag is full, no where to store the tools apart from a cupboard

I seem to able to break vacuum cleaners quicker than some people can break wind, so finding the right cleaner at the right price is, without doubt, an on going battle in my life. I have owned, used and in in the end, broken many vacuum cleaners in my time, the upright type, which seem to stop spinning or the handles just give up on me, and the cylinder type, which just seem to give up the ghost, usually during a carpet clean so I’m left with half a dog hair free carpet whilst the other half is, well, you can guess.I’ve even gone through the trial of giving a good go to both ‘bagged’ and ‘bag ... more

4 Stars Henry is sucking well! Review with images 14/04/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Excellent suction, looks funky and he's very strong!

Disadvantages Disadvantages A few annoying design issues!

Our much loved Vax upright vacuum had unfortunately passed away last week, no fault of its own as there was a slight stair falling incident that made it unusable. We were fed up of using an upright cleaner in all honesty and that good old ‘accidental dropping down the stairs’ trick definitely came in handy resulting in us now owning a lovely and shiny Henry in the household. Our idea was to buy something rugged with good suction power without a huge price tag, this was obviously a Henry vacuum and we picked this little beauty up in Homebase for a rather reasonable £99 which seems to be cheaper ... more

Advantages Advantages Summary: A good vacuum cleaner at a fair price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dust bags need replacing from time to time

~All about Henry~ I have owned a number of vacuum cleaners over the years and the only brand that I have ever been tempted to buy from again is Numatic. I bought my first "Henry" a good few years ago when they were sold with a simple one speed suction option, that was enough to lift fitted carpets from the floors if the filter bag was newly fitted and the air intake closure on the hose arm was left fully closed. When I decided to replace my old style Henry with a slightly newer version after the older model had given many years of trusted service, I was pleased to see that there had been a few ... more

3 Stars MY FRIEND HENRY Review with images 29/10/2010

Advantages Advantages Henry is lovely to look at when vacuuming, is relatively quiet and saves energy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as effective as other vacuum cleaners but it is cheaper than your average vacuum

The Henry Vacuum Cleaner (which I will shorten to Henry) has followed me around being a student from my very first night at my halls of residence. To elaborate on my story this particular evening I was particularly drunk with it being the first night of freshers and I had just met everybody in the halls for the first time. For some reason Henry was in the kitchen and one of the boys again who was quite drunk started vacuuming at about 3am and I ended up having a photograph with Henry (which I have added). Ever since that night whenever we saw Henry in shops we went past we had to have a ... more

Question – What’s the connection between Marmite and Henry? “What?!?!” I hear you cry. Now hear me out people. As they say “You either love them (him), or hate them (him). Me? I’m un-decided. Yes he is a powerful vacuum cleaner, but he isn’t perfect. He does have his imperfections, but these are noticeable, and do make a difference. First, let me dispel a few myths, and answer some questions that I have noticed as I have read around dooyoo and ciao. Numatic is the company which manufactures Henry and his siblings. Yes, he has family; James is yellow, and is a smaller, more compact and cheaper ... more

4 Stars Henry my one true love! Review with images 17/02/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, gives great results, comes with all the needed accessories.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be a little noisy on the higher control, but is definitely bearable.

-- Reasons for buying --My mum owns a cleaning business, so our house is always full of various different types and makes of cleaning equipment. My mum owns 5 pink 'Hetty' Vacuums. As I thought the house was becoming dominated by Hetty's I managed to persuade her to buy a red 'Henry' vacuum. -- Henry's gorgeous appearance and what he does --Henry is bright red, with two big googly eyes on the front of the machine and underneath a smiley mouth. Between his eyes and mouth, is where his long black suction hose lays, which represents his nose, which is appoximately 2.4 metres in length and 32mm in ... more

    5 Stars What a Sucker! 01/08/2011
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages reliable, cost effective

Disadvantages Disadvantages heavy and bulky in size

I've been through a variety of vacuum cleaners in the last ten years. Uprights, cylinders, bag less etc. None of them have ever lasted more than about a year before the suction goes, or they just don't want to cope with being mistreated anymore as they are bumped up the stairs or thrown over by the children. I've never had enough of a budget to buy a really expensive model, but two years ago I spotted an offer for a Henry Hoover and decided to try it out for myself. I've only ever heard good reviews about Henry's, but they have usually been associated with commercial cleaning in my experience ... more

I think everyone must be somewhat familiar with the little Henry Hoover, manufactured by ‘Numatic‘. It is one of the most used brand of hovers amongst industries and apparently is ;The Best’ hover on the UK market. Henry’s reputation perhaps stems from the hardwearing, durability of it with hardly any sound but ‘powerful’ suction power. Even more so, Henry is famously characterised by his little face. The hover itself is simply a tub, usually red (though you can get different colours) with a black top that looks a bit like his hat. The top has clips at the sides which you simply slide out, to ... more

My love affair with vacuum cleaners began years ago when all homes seemed to have that dinky little ball shaped Hoover with a flip top lid for bag removal. In my life I have had various types and makes, aloof uprights, cute sausage cylinders, Wet and Dry, but I've always hankered after a cute little ball of a vacuum cleaner of my own. My last Hoover finally gave up the ghost when it choked on one too many pieces of Lego and I was able to continue the quest for my perfect vacuum cleaner again. Most people seemed to have been seduced by Mr Dyson and hid dual cyclones but having seen them in ... more
