    Advantages Advantages Brilliant when new

Disadvantages Disadvantages After two years use it begins to deteriorate

I bought a brand new "T" to replace my Palm Vx which had done me a good turn but was beginning to play up. I loved the "T" right from the start, it was fast in its work, small for my handbag or pocket and did all the usual things like Date Book, Contacts, etc and one press on the Hot sync button on the cradle and all my Word and Excel documents and notes prepared on the go were transferred seamlessly to my home PC using the Documents to Go programme which came in the box. Photos downloaded from my PC are very good on the bright colour screen. Voice recorder is good too, but I soon changed the ... more

Advantages Advantages Its a palm sized, fully functional computer

Disadvantages Disadvantages Grafitti interface can go haywire with overuse

Ahh, the joys of using your palm for pleasure...NOT THAT WAY! I'm talking about the Palm Tungsten T handheld PDA, a fully functional, palm sized computer. I must admit, I'm a bit biased being a computer enthusiast but, on the flip side, that also means that you can trust what I'm saying as truthful and enthusiastic. With that said, on to the review. When the Tungsten T (TT) was initially released, it was heralded as the next generation of handheld devices. It has a unique sliding body which increases screen size by about ten percent. When closed, the TT is 9.5 centimeters (about 3.75 inches) ... more

Advantages Advantages Compact, user friendly, cheap, bluetooth

Disadvantages Disadvantages No Wifi, low earphone output

I've owned this Palm for just under 9 months now and it has been quite an eye opener. I had wanted to own one of these since they first came out but the initial cost was rather expensive so I held off until it dropped in price. I bought it to help me through the final few months of my degree by keeping me organised (and entertained). The unit is solidly built and comes with a clip on screen cover. It has served me well, and is especially good for typing documents when combined with a folding keyboard. It is much easier to carry than a laptop and makes less noise, which was good when I had to ... more

Advantages Advantages Compact, excellent screen, fast processor, availability of software

Disadvantages Disadvantages Easy to turn on by accident if you don't use the cover

I have used Palm handhelds for many years now starting off with the Palm Pilot Personal and moving up through the Vx, finally buying a Tungsten T about a year ago. I remember when I bought my first one that everyone was telling me I would never use it… how wrong could they be! The Tungsten T was a great improvement on my previous models for several reasons… • Totally new processor making it much faster in operation • Higher resolution screen with better light and also COLOUR! • Card slot to take standard SD memory cards • Bluetooth compatible (more of that later) • USB connection to the ... more

    Advantages Advantages size and screen

    Disadvantages Disadvantages weak battery

I purchased the Tungsten T after my wife stole my new Zire 71 from me. I really didn't care for the camera feature, but she loves it. So, I went with the T because of its size and I have not been disappointed at all. Previously, I owned the Palm IIIc. This is such a better unit. The 5-way nav is very usefull. I installed 2 utility programs, Slidefree and Graffiti Anywhere, and now I no longer need to slide the unit open to have full access to all the functions. The hotsync is so much faster due to the USB connection, as opposed to the former/older serial connection. Programs run faster. The ... more

Advantages Advantages Very versatile, looks good and plenty of add-ons

Disadvantages Disadvantages May still be expensive

I was looking for an MP3 player for ages. A good one was about £150 and did more than I really needed. 15gig of space sounds nice on paper, but its actually quite difficult to fill. While browsing ebay for one, I glanced over the PDA section and noticed that ooooo....they had colour now. My Palm Vx needed to go! So a new game was created; find a portable device that could replace my Palm Vx and play music. And was not too dear. And was in colour. And I liked. So the hunt began. Ooooooo...the Palm M505 has colour. And is expandable with its own memory slots. And was cheap. But no music. So I ... more

    Advantages Advantages Size and comfort

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Palm operating system

The only problem I see with this pda is that the operating system is still unsteady. For example there are still a lot of aplications that don't run. (avantgo sync fails very often) Old games have problems running too. What is a Pro for the tungsten t is that for me as a women it is very comfortable and easy to carry in a regular purse because of its small size. You can see its elegant. You can easly find accesories for it too. Another advantage is the voice recorder so usefull in a lot of ocasions. The batery has a standard life and sometimes needs more time to charge than other pda's. Be ... more

Advantages Advantages Small. Syncs well with Mac OS X.

Disadvantages Disadvantages SMS software lacking some functionality.

To be fair, I don’t really need one of these; I could probably get by with one of the far cheaper models that supply only the basic services such as an address book and a diary. But I like my gadgets and despite my not using all the functions available there are a few unique to this model that made it stand out from the rest of the Palm range. I bought mine in Dixons at the start of the year (2003) and it set me back around £370 plus an extra £40 for three years fully comp insurance. I know a lot of people see these policies as a bit of a rip off but I figured seeing as it probably wasn’t ... more

Advantages Advantages small, fast, sexy, best palm ever

    Disadvantages Disadvantages relatively high price

I never thought I would make the case for a palm handheld from 3com. I used to be a dedicated Ipaq fan but got increasingly disappointed with it. So I decided to take a bold step and try out the new Palm Tungsten. In one word: AMAZING! I will compare, wherever possible the Tungsten with the Ipaq. Note that I am comparing the new Tungsten with my previously owned Ipaq 3850. For exact specifications of both PDA's I refer you to the www.palm.com and www.compaq.com Look and feel I always found the Ipaq sexy, but it is still a bit bulky. The Palm is not much lighter (6.2 oz vs 5.6 oz for the palm) ... more
