Advantages Advantages Fast, compact, some good aplications e.g. Word

Disadvantages Disadvantages Starting to get more diifficult to find programs, and relativly fragile

01/02/04 I got my Revo Plus about two years ago (second hand already) and have been relativly pleased with it. It has many useful applications such as word (very similar to Microsoft etc), spreadsheet, sketch i.e. paint is also avaliable but doesn't come as standard. When you get installing the Sync programs are easy and you get quite a bit of software on the CD-rom. I recived a lot of programs and games via infrared but now Psion users are declining and so finding someone you know with a Psion can be quite difficult. When buying second hand, check the screen respnds to taps, and the keyboard ... more

Advantages Advantages Internet, email, word, excel etc

Disadvantages Disadvantages no backlight, battery life

I got my Psion Revo Plus about 18 months ago a mate got it for me at cost price (so I can’t tell you how much I paid). I use my Psion all the time including in the car. I have Route Planner Millennium Europe on it, so if ever I get lost (which I often do) I can look it up! I wish it had a backlight though because I end up trying to see the screen angling it towards the interior light in my car. I also use it for doing my sms text messages through the infrared (using my Ericsson t39 phone) which is quicker than using the keypad on my phone and also I can store more messages on my Psion than I ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, compact, small keyboard and wide range of software

Disadvantages Disadvantages No backlight and lack of colour screen

The Psion Revo was the orginal organiser prior to the newer psion revo plus the original devise had a smaller memory of eight mb(now 16mb) and the original devise lacked the WAP browser and e-mail facility. These are the only two differences that are notible beetween the two devices. Overall both of these two very simmilar devises have there adavntages and their diadvantages. A major advantage of the psion revo over the other handheld devices is the keyboard. This device allows data entry to be fast and presice unlike the character recognisers on other hand held devises. I also has a touch ... more

Advantages Advantages Keyboard, Speed, Ease of use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Screen not always clear in bad light, Why no lithium ion batteries?

The main reason why I chose the Psion over Palm and Sony alternatives was that it comes with a tiny keyboard built in, this takes some getting used to because the keys appear to be hinged at the bottom so you need to press the top of the key to be sure of a key press being registered. It comes with a cd rom of extra software such as opera web browser, a very good wap browser and a serial docking station. To save memory you can choose what you want to install from the cd to your Psion. It synchronises with my pc faultlessly. I'm not sure about Mac connectivity though! The supplied stylus feels ... more

Advantages Advantages A compact little number that fits in your hand

Disadvantages Disadvantages would be even better with flash memeory cards

I just bought my new Psion Revo Plus 16Mb from Yahoo auctions brand new for £120 ( although it is higher priced in the shops ..at just aver £200), the main reason for my purchase was mainly because I felt vunerable carrying my laptop about with me and needed something a little more discreet, less weighty but that could meet most of my needs whilst travelling, and I have to say that this little beauty has certainly fitted the bill... Apart from having infra-red capabilites which just happen to work very nicely with my Motorolla Timeport Triband phone, which enables me to use the WAP facilities ... more

Advantages Advantages Small and sleek.Does everything I reasonably need it too.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The stylet is maybe a bit fiddley.Built in battery.

I’ll be honest from the start and that is I’m a Psion man through and through. I owned a series 3c back in the day, I had a 5mx (Ericsson MC 218) until I got drunk and dropped it. Rather than replace that I thought I’d just go for a Revo Plus as it seemed to do all the things I used the MC 218 for. The functions I find the most useful are the Agenda, Alarm, World Time, Spreadsheet, Contacts/Database, Email and Word. This is, I’ve just realised, pretty much all of them. Of course the latter two in that list would be of far less help if a keyboard wasn’t provided. Along with emails the mail ... more

Advantages Advantages Leather, better looking than a plastic case, snug fit and reasonably cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Offers only slight protection when dropped.

As you could probably tell by my opinion that I wrote about the Revo Plus, I was very impressed by it overall. But one thing I wasn't too sure about was it's sturdyness. As I had dropped my Revo on numerous occations (I know, very silly of me!), I decided to hunt for something to help prevent me from putting a huge crack down the centre of it once and for all. So I searched high and low on the internet, only to find some hard plastic Psion cases. I wasn't too impressed, as they were around £20 at the time. So I'm sorry to say this, but I decided to pop down to my local PC World - and was ... more

Advantages Advantages Small, fast, whoops PDA's bum with ease

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not colour but you can't have everything

Ok, lets point out one thing first - the Revo Plus is very good - But I just saw the Revo 8Mb Version for £199 as standard in the shops so, unless you want some of the extra functions go with the older version. To be honest both versions kick Palm and CE operated mini pc's in to touch and only just now - with a 150mzh processor does one PDA come close to the speed of the Revo. The Word prog is excellent - once coupled with one of he free spell checks The Sheet prog is excellent Tank Command is very addictive... Set up is very easy Well done - I use mine for E-mails on the move and also I can ... more

Advantages Advantages Powerful and fully featured

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No backlight

The Revo Plus builds on Psion's successful Revo machine by doublng the memory (from 8MB to 18MB) and by supplying a few extra goodies on the PsiWin CD that accompanies the machine. The software on the machine itself hasn't changed much since the Revo, and as there wasn't much wrong with it, this decsion seems to make sense. The Revo is a well spec'ed little machine capable of doing far more than just diary and address book stuff, such as word process (with a diuctionary and thesaurus), spreadsheet (with graphs), manage your mobile phone SIM card, access POP3 email, send SMS text messages via ... more
