Advantages Advantages 65MPG +, compartments, very cheap tax and insurance

Disadvantages Disadvantages keycards can become damaged and lots of electricals to potentially fail

I have always been a diesel car owner because I am no mug and don't want to be paying 60 quid a week topping up my tank. This car can easily achieve 60mpg and i've even had it reading up at its maximum 99.9mpg on a few occassions. On the average motorway journey it will average out at between 65 and 70 mpg. I live in rural lincolnshire in a small town mostly using the car to get into and around town and to nearby villages usually within ten miles of my house and today it is reading 59mpg which is about its usual which is extremely good for the journies that i make. I have owned the car for ... more

Advantages Advantages its dCi engine is one of very best in class. very low Co2 emission. great mileage

Disadvantages Disadvantages a bit less features

renault cars are known wildly for their thrilling driving experience with utmost driver safety precautions that come as standard in most Renault cars. this particular 1.5ltr dCi megane is extremely good value foe money as i found out. in my opinion this automobile has very decent road handling with a neat steering. the grip at the corners is phenomenal. it gives you that extra confidence to go fast...! rear seats are extremely comfortable with ample leg and shoulder room. this 1.5ltr dCi engine is very light on fuel. in turn its very light on buyers pocket. without any doubt this is one of all ... more

Advantages Advantages Very spacious, great fuel economy.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not everybody likes the astetics.

I have a 5 years old second-hand 5 doors black Renault Megane 1.5 Hatchback and it is the best car that I had to date. In my oppinion the range is very well priced and offers great value for money. New models start at £14000 however you can pick up a second hand car for a very reasonable price of approx £4500 for a 3-4 years old and £1500 for a 6-7 years old. The 1.5 diesel engine is very economical, in city setting it ususally works out 50-55 miles per gallon and on the motorway this increases to 60 miles per gallon. The 1.5 engine is also powerfull enough to drive with ease on the motorway ... more

    Advantages Advantages Economy, reliability, comfort

    Disadvantages Disadvantages small boot

I've owned a 1.5DCI Dynamique from new (2004) and have covered 63,000 miles. Had a couple of minor things fixed under warranty, door handle paint and steering column knock(?), despite not buying the car from a Main Dealer they honoured warranty repairs. Cheap Road Tax, Car Insurance, comfortable, lots of toys and economical. The only unusual fault was an intermittent STOP / OIL indication, which lasted a day or two - suspected wet electrics when the car was serviced by a non-Renault garage. At the time I was a bit unnerved by the complexity of the electronic systems, 7 units talking hooked up ... more

This is a review of the newest Megane, there is not that much difference in this car and it's predecesor but what changes there are would appear to be big improvements. I had a 1.4 Megane (2003) and loved it so when I got my new model I was really surprised at how much better it was. Exterior - New back light cluster and new shape front lights different grill at the front, more angled new badge at front front fog lights are further apart and housed in a new grill, Renault badge at back Interior- Much nicer styling including new dials white/blue dash lighting soft touch above dials Driving ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages turbo lag

The Mégane II was launched in 2002[1], and marked a completely fresh start. The two cars bear very little resemblance, the new vehicle having been inspired by the manufacturer's new style first seen in the Avantime. The enormous success of the Megane across Europe proved that Renault's new bold styling was a winning formula and the subsequent failure of the Avantime to sell in great numbers can be attributed to its unusual market placement rather than its styling. The new Megane was voted European Car Of The Year in 2003, and achieved a 5-star safety rating in the EuroNCAP crash tests[2], the ... more

I am currently leasing a Megane Oasis, through an employee deal at work (Lookers in Northern Ireland [Charles Hurst Lt.d]). The Oasis is really a base trim, with some extras from the higher models. You get a panoramic sun roof and air con., electrically folding, colour coded door mirros, keyless car (just have the key in your pocket and it unlocks when you touch the handle, etc.) Although the key being a square credit card shape has its disadvantages - like when in your pocket, it is a lot more bulkier. Front fog lights and an arm rest come as standard too. It's got some nice features for a ... more

Had this car now for about 6 months, after trading in a Cilo I owned for 3 years, it's got that much needed extra room but the handling's not quite as sharp - don't think its bad though. So far it's been faultless (except I agree about getting wet when you open the boot in the rain!). Even in summer with the air-con on full and constant urban driving you can get 45+ mpg, take a bit of care on the motorway and you're above 55mpg. Lots of equipment as standard and Renault will do a deal if you push them - find one of the dealers owned by Renault - Renault Croydon is one - they give you the deal ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Reliability, customer service

I owned one of these from new for 6 months at the end of 2003. In that 6 month period I actually had it for 5 months, the other month it spent in the garage over 6 different times. I bought the car for its looks and for the various gadgets you get as standard. Having never owned one before I was unaware of the full features thus never knew how they should all work. It turned out that the keyless entry was supposed to open the door when you hands went through the door handle. It didn't.. Having the remote key opening option is supposed to let you open and start the car with the key card still ... more

Advantages Advantages Just brilliant, 60+ MPG

Disadvantages Disadvantages Get wet when opening boot

I bought this car for my wife on a personal car lease. We are only paying £180 per month for a year with no deposit. It is about £1500 cheaper in the first year than Renault. It is a very good and practical car. Fantastic fuel consumption. On a careful run you can easily get 50-60 MPG. A tank of diesel is lasting my wife at least a month. The is plenty of space in the car with loads of storage. The CD player is very good as too is the air conditioning. Although the boot looks small it still hold a pushchair and a weekly shop. The drive and handling is very comfortable. The only design error is ... more
