Advantages Advantages Vibrant colours, cheap, easy to maintain

Disadvantages Disadvantages Messy, sometimes inconsistent results

I’ve been colouring my hair with Schwarzkopf Live Colour XXL in ‘real red’ for about the past 2 years. Red is a notoriously hard colour to maintain and the cheapness of this product- ranging from £3-£5- is convenient enough to do so. I have naturally very dark brown hair and the first time I used this product it took the colour on quite nicely which after a few more applications over the years as intensified. Packaging & What You Get For your £3-£5 you get the usual bottle of developer with twisty lid, a tube of crème dye in your choice (important to check) and a small bottle of colour locking ... more

    4 Stars Electric! 17/04/2013
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Achieves the colours no other affordable dye can!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stains the skin if applied incorrectly

I often use this product when going to events such as festivals or parties. It seems to be the only product available on the high street to achieve electric and vibrant colours at an affordable price. I will advise people to be cautious however, as I and a few other of my friends have used the products which have either dripped onto skin or leaked through the cap itself staining the skin. Its not easy to remove either! I used the Lightning Blue (I believe it is called) called for a change of look during week long festival only to find that I had an almost fluorescent blue line circling my head ... more

    Advantages Advantages vibrant. bright colourful.

Disadvantages Disadvantages can cause rash for sensitive skin.

I used to use this hair dye all the time to dye my hair i have used others in the past but this is the only one i use now, I wanted a really bright blonde hair colour and as my hair is quite brown to begin with I needed a really light and bright blonde that would take to my hair and make it as bright as i wanted. This wasn't the only dye i tried to go bright blonde but it is the only hair dye that worked and took to my hair. The first time i used the product i did a strand test to make sure everything was ok and it was. I was happy with the result my hair was as bright and blonde as i wanted ... more

Advantages Advantages gives good strong vibrant results

Disadvantages Disadvantages irritable, causes rashes and scabs, not good for your skin or hair

I used to use this hair dye all the time, I wanted a really bright red hair colour and as my hair is quite dark brown to begin with I needed a really strong and bright red for it to be able to take to my hair. This was the only dye I had tried which actually managed to give me the colour I wanted. The first time I used it I did the usual precautionary tests and everything was fine. The colour was fantastic and I was really happy with the results with no problems at all in the application. I used this dye for a year or so, applying it to my hair every 2-3 months without any problems. Then the ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be messy

I think when it comes to wanting a bright vibirant colour from home Live XXL is one of the best box dyes on the market. . Depending on your base colour 9 times out of 10 the colour comes out the same as the box. Also feel that for the colour achieved from Live XXL does so without as much damage as other leading brands. If your wanting a bright stand out colour with a lovely healthy shine and affordable i would always recommend Live XXL Live XXL Is always very reasonably priced where ever i have seen it and i think that it also a very good selling point.- £5 is the usual price or many time they ... more

Advantages Advantages colours are amazingly bright even for dark hair

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I adore this product and it is one of a very limited few that works on my very dark hair. An hairdresser actually recommended me to use Schwarzkopf hair dye years ago before the XXL range was out as he said that the ingrediants were the same as those used in salons. I did and to this day still do, although these days I use the foam one as it is so easy to apply. As with other hailr dyes, its a case of mixing the cream colour with the developer lotion and then giving it a good shake to mix the products well and also helps tone up the old bingo wings. This is really safe and tidy way of mixing ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to apply, a range of colours.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Fades a lot.

My hair used to be like a ginger type of colour, I used this to dye it black. First week it was alright, with none of my natural hair really showing. Second week, a lot of my natural hair started to come out, and the black was fading massively. Third week, my natural colour was pretty much back. So I then dyed it 'Cosmic Blue' After a week, it still looks fine. It's faded a little though, after washing it. The colour generally looks very good when it's first put on, but after a couple of weeks, It'll start to look terrible. Even though I should note that this was the first time I'd ever dyed ... more

Advantages Advantages great color and price

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none really

I am naturally blonde, but also get bored easily with my hair. I'm either cutting it or highlighting it, and as the winter drew closer, I decided that I wanted a change and though Red was the way forward. I am quite new to dying my own hair and usually go to the hairdressers for hightlights. It has been many years since I had a full head colourant, eeekkk. I went to my local Superdrug, and found these Schwarzkopf foams. They were on offer at £3.99 and I have always found the Live XXL colours very striking, so thought I would give it a go. I bought Dark cherry Bliss, number 388 for the deepness ... more

Advantages Advantages great colour, easy to apply

Disadvantages Disadvantages hard to get out of your hair to change colour

When it comes to hair dye I like to get mine done in the salon and never use permanent hair dyes, this is all because of a really annoying and expensive experience I had with Schwarzkopf Live Color XXL hair dyes, in particular the Bitter Sweet Choc shade. Application Applying this dye was really easy, I did mine by myself and found it really easy to get a good results, you are provided with everything you need to make your transformation in the box, this includes: The Instructions Gloves Tube of Colour Bottle of Developer Tube of Live Colour Conditioner (for after care) The instructions are ... more

Advantages Advantages long lasting colour, great for bleaching your hair

Disadvantages Disadvantages some colours I have used don't always match the box

You can find the Live hair dyes in pretty much any beauty high street shop in store and online. You can find these in Boots, super drug, savers, body care, wilkos and you can sometimes find these in corner shops and supermarkets. The price will vary depending where you buy it from but their rough price is around £5. *Savers - £4.79 *Boots - currently have an offer of £4 each or £7.50 for two *bodycare - £4.52 *Superdrug - £4.89 The thing I have noticed is that different shops stock different shades to each other. Shops such as bodycare and super drug don't stock big selections just the basic ... more
