    3 Stars PSP Overrated? 09/06/2006
    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages Does pretty much everything 6 other gadgets do but fits in your pocket

Disadvantages Disadvantages It doesen't really do any of them that well, some tragic loading times

Popular as this hand held is, and upopular as this review will be, I really really do not like the sony playstation portable. In sonys insistant desperation to march forward to shove everything into one thing to push sales of something else (try sony owning a major reccord label, meaning paid mp3 downloads, or the umd movies? can anyone say profit whores?), something which is evident is the upcoming release of the PS3 as well. It seems that sony are more concerned with selling blu ray drives than shock horror.. making games consoles!! one huge problem i have always had with the playstations ... more

Advantages Advantages Photos, Music, Video and Games

Disadvantages Disadvantages Mainly just PS2 games on it

The PSP is a good allround media centre for on the go. Gaming, music, movies and photos are all easily available on this console, and you can even access the internet on it via a WiFi hotspot. It's relatively easy to use, particularly if you've ever used a PS3 as its the same style of menu, easy to charge and pretty much walks you through anything you try to do with it. The games are good, though nothing special. If you own a PS2, you'll find there are next to no new games; most are straight ports with very similar graphics and virtually no difference whatsoever. The music, photos and movies ... more

Advantages Advantages good to watch films on and store files

Disadvantages Disadvantages Games have totallly dried up and it is effectifley dead

Ok when this baby first came out i rushed and brought one and though wow this is going to kick the DS into touch!!. I got my PSP with a fifa 06 i think it was luminees (great game) and lemmings with the one gig memory card. It is great to browse the internet and view photos on but the umd movie format died a death but no matter you can get ipod formattted movies to work on it. happy days. But as a games console it is very lacking in games well let me repharse that.. not games per say but killer appp must rush out and buy a psp type games I can name on one hand the games I really really enjoyed ... more

Advantages Advantages GREAT GRAPHICS; COMFORTABLE SIZE

    Disadvantages Disadvantages RESET FLICK BUTTON!!!

I bought a PSP when they first came out a few years ago and my first opinions on it was that it was brilliant. The graphics are unbelievable for it's size and the screen is plenty big enough to watch the UMD film disks. There's plenty of games been made for it but I had one little problem with it which I can't believe Sony never picked up on when designing it. They have put the reset button on the side of the device right next to where your hand rests and right next to the four main buttons. I lost count of the amount of times where I was playing a game, took ages to complete a level then just ... more

Advantages Advantages Portable, can take a memory card

Disadvantages Disadvantages everything else (graphics, games, etc)

Firstly, the graphics do not live up to the good standard of graphics that you usually get from playstation. Trust me when i say this that the graphics of the PSP is nowhere near PS2 graphics and probabily along the same lines as the PS1 graphics, no joke. I know many people may like the idea of a PSP because of its portability, its capability to play music and videos but you will quickly get bored of watching videos and listening music on it and relise that you would of been better of buying an mp3 and a portable dvd player (it would probabily cost less aswell) Once you realise that there is ... more

    1 Star PsP No! 02/11/2009
    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages stores music and video, able to use on move

Disadvantages Disadvantages bad graphics, horrible audio, high price, bad games

Well i have owned a psp twice now. Everytime i see it looks like great fun, but its not the graphics are horrible the sound quality is not up to scratch. Trying to play games online was horrible, on most games it seemed to only work for US players. Another thing which i didnt like was analog stick. You were always scared to push it 2 hard incase it breaks and my fingers seemed to keep sliping off. In my experience of owning the psp the games werid the best graphics and there never was enough to do in them which was another down fall to the psp. when you look at the price of the PSP and the ... more

    Advantages Advantages great console

    Disadvantages Disadvantages two many models

I was so happy to be one of the first out of my group of friends to get the psp. But heartbroken when for no reason a new psp was relesed (slim and lite), but there was no point buying it as it was basically the same, and then the psp go was release... will sony do this with everything? the layout is great and like that of a playstation three, and was nicely made. i have had no problems with it, and the updates are great ( i like looking forward to the next updates). This device looks awesome, and plays great. One thing that has been bugging me though is the dust that gets under the screen (i ... more

Advantages Advantages Media player, Portable, Able to surf the web, Plays games

Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy, Bad graphics, Too big for your pocket, people can 'nick it easily!

I bought the psp in hope of a portable media with exciting games with great graphics, and fast internet access. All I really think that I got was a video i-pod able to play games made in the 1800s! Well maybe not but you get the picture. With the psp you get: A pair of headphones A memory stick (32mb) A free video disk with software on I recommond that you get a 1gb memory stick or bigger as then you can hold at least 1 movie or about 250 songs, unless you can compress your movies. A gb stick will cost you around £70 but you can get 2 gb stick nowadays aswell. I would recommond two games for ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good graphics

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Bad, boring games

The sony PSP has very good graphics and lots of features but who really needs them? The whole point of a games console is to play games, right? good ones, well the psp doesnt even have that. its games are boring... and graphics arnt everything... it seems like theyve tried to concentrate more on its features, rather then the actual quality of the games. Sony try to improve whats already done and arnt innovative. Take the nintendo DS for example. Nintendo concentrate on coming up with new innovative ideas such as a touch screen. They havent tried to drematically improve the graphics because ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic Idea and expandability as well as being a fantastic gaming device

Disadvantages Disadvantages It damages very easily

I purchased a PSP very soon after its UK release date. My reason for buying it was that I am one of the few who do not own any gaming devices at present such as a playstation, as well as this I was about to depart on 6 months of travelling so I thought this would be ideal. Firstly I thought it was well priced for what I was getting so not complaints there. However my first key complaint was sound not necessarily quality but amplitude. You can only really hear it properly when in completely silent surroundings. As well as this even with a good set of headphones the volume is still minimal ... more
