    I hope this can help students and people that are just moving out and starting a new home. I have learnt how to save more after my student days, since moving out as that's when money becomes tighter. Student life is fun, and all students have to scrape by and you will learn how to live off little to no money - it can be done. Budget your money, it is so easy to get into debt and you will be paying it off for years after, if you are wise with your money you should be able to avoid getting yourself into huge amounts of debt.     As a recent PhD graduate, I have completed 8 years of university: three of those were spent as an undergraduate, one doing my master's degree, and the rest on completing my doctorate. I am also very proud to be in the small minority of ex-students who are not in debt (and I'm hoping it will stay that way now I've joined the Real World).     We all know the stereotype of students living on beans, but they really are cheap and good for you! Here are some of my favourite things to do with beans. You needa few things to get you started, herbs, spices etc. but these usually last ages -persuade your mum to buy thenm for you at the start of term! If you've got your own ideas, let me know!! ps.     Grand title, huh? I looked up “thrift” in my trusty OED, and this is what it said. Now students may not be responsible for a whole country’s budget, but they still need to be careful. While I would never say that a uni degree is a waste of 3+ years, dropping out part way through because you can no longer afford it is – you’re worse of then than if you’d never started the course in the first place.     For most university comes across exciting and a path to a successful career. In some respects higher education does give stability and alot more opportunities. However it does come with a price, which most of us end up paying off for most of our lives. It seems rediculous that the government is less reluctant to help university students, i feel soon it would be so expensive to get into university.
